Hello Krew,
I wanted to give you an update on my parents. The
phones have rung constantly and my email box has
been filled to capacity with requests on their
condition. Thank you so much for praying for our
family. I haven't been able to answer all the daily
emails so I thought I would bring you up to speed
with this newsletter.
I stayed at the hospital last Saturday night, Sunday
and Sunday night. As soon as Roger and Deb arrived
back in Tennessee from their singing engagement,
they came and I was able to go home for a night to
get some much needed sleep! (that recliner in the
hospital room ain't so hot) Then, I returned to
Kingsport on Tuesday night to spend the night again.
Because of the alzheimers, we feel that one of us
needs to be there most of the time with her. Lauren
came and sat with us for several hours on Tuesday
night, but Mama didn't know either one of us.
Tuesday night late, mama started jabbering and she
jabbered, talked and drew circles in the air most of
the night. She wanted the TV on, then off, then on ,
then off. I kept telling her to lay down and sleep
but of course, telling her was useless.
Finally I decided I would sing to her. So at 2:30
am, I started softly . I sang "Where The Roses Never
Fade" several times, then I switched to Amazing
Grace", all four verses.....nothing seemed to work.
Mama was still jabbering and drawing circles and
hearing people talk! After three or four more old
songs, I started singing a song that Mama has sung
all her life, "No One Cares Like Jesus". All of a
sudden Mama stopped jabbering, and started mouthing
the words right along with me. She wasn't making an
audible sound but occasionally she would grunt as
she formed the words and even when she would grunt,
she was on the same note as I was. I got to the end
of the song, and mama said "lets go". So here I go
again, singing the entire song again. By the time I
was to the end of the song this time, I looked over
and she was sound asleep. She slept the rest of the
night and was still asleep when they took her down
to Xray yesterday morning.
I was again reminded of the power of a Gospel Song.
I have heard it said that the brain doesn't filter
out music, like it does memory and recollections. I
am so thankful that my Mom has known and still
possibly knows the ultimate care of Christ. It
certainly was a blessing to know that Mama knew what
she and I were singing about in the middle of the
night.
My Dad relieved me yesterday morning and I went
straight to Morristown to record a duet with Lauren,
"Faithful" which will be on my next project. I then
went to Sevierville and changed clothes and worked
at Tony's restaurant last night.
I talked to my Dad this morning and they have now
moved Mama out of ICU into a private room. The goal
is to get her strong enough to move her to a Therapy
facility, where she will be for several weeks. The
Doctors are not too concerned with the bleeding in
the brain, they think that will clear up. The
lacerated liver will heal itself in time as they
were able to insert a tube to get medicine to it.
The fracture in her spine will heal in time also
with proper therapy and care.
Let me say THANK YOU to those who have emailed and
called to check on her. It's been impossible to
answer every call and email. But please know, the
entire family appreciates our friends.

Christmas Special
Since the devotional book, A YEAR IN THE NOW, has
been so popular during the year, I decided to make
it available in a Christmas Special. This book has
inspired my life and many days, the devotional in
this book has gotten me out of bed and ready to face
the day. I know you will love it. So many of the
Krew members have told me what a blessing its been
to them. Normally the book sells for $20.00 plus
$5.00 shipping.....
Also, the Talley Ho Ho Ho Cd has been a good seller
this season, so I decided to put together a special
for Christmas.
If you bought the two individually, it would be
$35.00 plus shipping and handling. But as a
Christmas Special, we are offering The book, A YEAR
IN THE NOW, and my Christmas CD, TALLEY HO HO HO in
a package, both for $25.00. Call Dot at the office
to get your order placed. Remember all the people on
your list who would benefit from the book.......
Well, Pootie is clawing on my arm with that
desperate look in her eyes, as if to say "we better
go soon".......
Will keep you updated.
Thanks for praying.
Kirk

I am especially excited about this evening of Music.
Lauren and I will be singing the new duet,
"Faithful" and I am sure we will do some music that
we did long ago when we all were with the Hoppers.
Make your plans to come to Birmingham for this great
evening of music and fun.
