Hello Krew

It's a beautiful day here in the Smokies. The leaves are at their peak of brilliance. The reds and golds are beautifully arrayed against the mountain peaks of green and brown. There is even a Tennessee orange tree along the highway that's just beautiful. This morning there were people out taking pictures of that tree. But traffic is moving at a good pace. Most of the leaf lookers came weeks ago thinking that the fall colors would be on time in October but this year, the fall foliage was a bit late so it's easy to maneuver through the streets without much fuss. This past Saturday I drove to a memorial service over in NC, taking the scenic route through the Smokies. I left very early on Saturday morning and enjoyed the ride across the mountain tops, down into Cherokee NC. I was reminded again of the goodness of God, his majestic handiwork that he has created just for us.

Sunday Morning I sang in Coward SC at Grace and Glory Ministries. Pastor Mack Evans welcomed me and we had a great service. The Lord truly blessed the service. The Coward girls made lunch, neatly packed for the trip to Greenville. Ham, potato salad, black eyed peas, rice, and peach cobbler! It was great.

Sunday night I sang in Greenville SC at the Washington Avenue Church of God. Pastor Doug Barrett has been a good friend to me and he invited me to his church. There was an awesome presence of God there. So many friends who I hadn't seen in a long time, came by to say hello. It was great to see Sandi Clark. She writes articles for several different magazines and it was great to catch up with her. Also good to see Paul and David White. David used to travel with Karen Peck and New River and Paul traveled with the Nelons for a while. I picked at Paul during the concert and he picked right back. It was a lot of fun.

SANDERS FAMILY CHRISTMAS at the Playhouse in Crossville has been canceled. We had to wait til we had enough to get the group rate, when we got to that amount, we called to make the reservations and they were already sold out. So we won't be going to Crossville on November 26th.

HOWEVER-we are planning a Kirk's Krew Christmas Party on the 17th of December, here at the office. So make your plans, I will be sending more details about that in the upcoming newsletters.

I received a great letter from a lady in Texas. Her granddaughter was abducted and was drug into the woods. She was eventually able to get away from her abductor and make her way back to the main highway. The first van that stopped was playing Christian Music and "The Potter's Hands" was playing. The lady's granddaughter knew she was safe when she heard the music, quickly got in the van and got to safety.

When I read the letter from the grandmother, I was reminded again how the Lord uses songs in different ways. I guess I just see people responding to the songs in person, and I forget sometimes that in our scariest of times, a song can mean safety or danger, life or death. Thank the Lord for the songs!

This week I am singing in Kerrville, Texas at Calvary Christian Center with pastor Del Way. Saturday and Sunday morning, I will be in Tampa, FL at Church Without Walls. Sunday evening I will be in Morriston, FL at the Morriston Baptist Church. More details on the website www.kirktalley.com
