Newsletter 05-03-05 Ben, Birds, Briskets, and Blessings!

Hello Krew,

I prayed as I drove to the airport. I needed to have a good day, a good weekend.  The pressure of the week had been somewhat difficult.  I had been blasted by stupid people misunderstanding my sense of humor,  was tired of dealing with it, Hadn't had much sleep, it had just been a stressful week.  I was ready for something GOOD to happen!

I walked up to the ticket counter and saw Pam, a familiar face.  She smiled and said "Hi Kirk" and then she introduced me to a new girl that would be working out front.  They both were pleasant and nice as they helped me check in for my flight to Detroit.  I proceeded to the first Security check point, and there was another familiar face, my red headed Security Transportation Authority lady.  She is always nice and pleasant, but today she hugged me!  I wondered what the other people in line thought!  She told me she was going to try to come to the Maryville concert next weekend, I assured her I would be there and would be looking for her.  I proceeded to the next check point and there I met an agent that I had never seen before.  A short gray headed woman said "Hi Kirk, I've been praying for you, it's good to see you coming back thru the airport" Perhaps I had a shocked look on my face, since I didn't recognize her, but I quietly said "thank you" and proceeded in ridding myself of anything that would set the beeper off.  Belt, phone, watch, shoes, money clip, chewing gum (the foil does it), knives, machine guns, ginsu knives. . . . . . .(oops, I got carried away) I sent my laptop and my gearbox through the X Ray machine, I walked thru barefooted to collect all my belongings, and wouldn't you know it, I beeped!  Now when you beep, you are automatically asked to step into yet another line so they can "wand you" or pat you down like a criminal.  Once I realized that a quarter in my pocket was the culprit beeper, I was allowed back into the line where all my carry on luggage was waiting on me.  Just as I packed up my laptop, another TSA Agent walked up and hugged me.  He just smiled and said that he also had been praying for me and how good it was to have me back in the airport.  I couldn't believe it.  I have been hugged twice, and it wasn't even 9 am yet!  Already two people had told me they had been praying for me.  I could tell it was going to be a good day.

As I sat in the exit aisle row on my first flight to Cincinnati, it turned out to be a good flight.  The gentleman beside me never spoke, he didn't have a noisy newspaper stretched out over the two seats, his carry on's weren't in MY foot space,  He was a very small man so he didn't automatically take his seat and part of mine too, he didn't snore as he slept, his breath didn't stink, he was the perfect person to sit by.  I slept a little and also continued to read the new Sandy Patty book, "Broken on the Back Row."  Great book, by the way. I landed in Cincinnati in time to grab a McGriddle and head to the boarding gate for my next flight.  I heard the announcer call my flight, and I watched the line from at the gate.  I kept my seat, just waiting for the line to thin out.  Just as I approached the agent taking the tickets, I turned around and looked at the person behind me and it was Ben Kinchlow, former 700 club host and now TBN host.  Of course he didn't know me, but I knew him. His flight schedule had been changed and he had been diverted to the same flight I was on.  I got to the plane and got settled in my seat. I looked up and there came Ben down the aisle. The seat right beside me was empty so he sat down and said "Hi".  He saw the Sandy Patty book in my hand so the conversation started with "Are you a fan of Sandy's?"  I answered with a "oh yeah" and the conversation continued.  Before I reached Detroit, Ben had really ministered to me, I had given him a condensed version of my testimony, and had even told him how I prayed that God would send NICE people to be in my path that day.  Ben was so nice to me, and even gave me his cell number!

I was blessed by the things Ben had to say to me, So far everything that had happened to me that day was GOOD.  Thank you Jesus for sending NICE people into my path!

I got to Detroit, had time to run by Bob Evans and then to the concert.  Victor Seaton at Encore Promotions sponsored the concert and I had a great evening.  I got to see many friends in the Detroit area, God was good and certainly the Holy Spirit was in the place.

I told the audience about meeting the nice people in the airport and even told them about meeting Ben Kinchlow. I had forgotten to bring my camera to the concert, so I won't have many pictures from that concert, but it was a blessing to be there and share from an honest heart.

I apologize to the Krew members in Detroit, I left my camera at the hotel and didn't take any pictures!

So as I left the hotel in Detroit at 4 am, heading back to the airport, I prayed again that I would meet nice people,  I would find something to laugh about,  I prayed for a good travel day,  I prayed for a failing business to turn around, I prayed for Tim Greene, Roger Bennett, The George Younce Family, Janet Paschal, and several unspoken requests. . . .please help me pray for all of these situations, but most of all I prayed for nice people to be placed in my path again. And so on Saturdays flights . . . . . . I only met and dealt with Rental Car people, shuttle drivers, ticket agents and TSA agents at the airport, and no one was mean or nasty.

Saturday night I sang in Stillwater Missouri at the Calvary Assembly of God. Pastor Rusty Rhoads and his wife Rita, were so nice.  Their son is named ROCKY RHOADS.  How clever is that!  There are pictures of his family on the website.  Rusty welcomed me to his church and everyone was so nice.  There are lots of pictures on the website from Stillwater.

Sunday morning, I sang at the Regency Park Nazarene Church in Tulsa.  Pastor Gunter was so nice, he even helped me unload.  When I was doing the sound check, he told me that the day before, there had been a bird that somehow got into the sanctuary.  The entire time I was setting up, the bird chirped.  I thought maybe when the music started, it would stop its chirping, but I was wrong!  The entire time I sang, that bird chirped!  When I would stop and talk, it chirped.  When I whistled, it REALLY chirped.  It was pretty annoying!   As I started "I KNOW HIM",  the lyrics are "The birds up in the air." . . . .well everyone laughed because I had just said that this was the only time in church that I had wanted to shoot the bird!  (ok and now here comes more emails and more people wanting off the list)  After that song, I gave my testimony and the altar filled up as we sang "Amazing Grace".  After the service, the Pastor Gunter's wife invited me to their home for a great meal!  She had brisket (my favorite) and all the trimmings!  She told me she got the brisket at Sams Wholesale Club!  I was very impressed!  There might be hope for me yet when it comes to cooking!

Sunday night I drove down to Neosho, Mo for a concert at the Northside Baptist Church.  Lyndall Jones had invited me there, and it was good to see a lot of Krew members (pictures on the website) and meet some new friends that night.
