Hello Krew

East Tennessee has survived the snow. We actually didn't get much snow, maybe an inch. It left almost as fast as it landed. The roads remained clear in Knox County. But further west in Tennessee, they got hit pretty hard. So the concert this past Saturday night in Doyle Tennessee was canceled, and has been rescheduled for April 22, 2006. The info will be on the web page.

Sunday night I sang at the First Church of the Nazarene in Knoxville. It was a great night and lots of people came that I hadn't seen in a while. I invited the group TWO OR MORE to sing a few songs and the people really loved their accapella arrangements! Then Sarah Mentzer and I sang "Oh Lamb Of Calvary" as a duet. Sarah is an incredible singer and she never missed a note! You got to hear it!

This weekend I will be in Arlington VA at the Assembly of God. Rod Horner has an incredible weekend of music planned. Kendra Cook Penn will be there, along with a combined choir and orchestra. Saturday night will be a great night of collective music. I will sing again on Sunday morning in the worship service. I am looking forward to being there. I hope that a bunch of Krew members are making plans to come to Arlington VA to be with us there.

MARCH WEEKEND

Hope you are planning on joining us for the weekend in March. March 25th in Maryville Tennessee at the Maryville College, a night of Great Gospel Music featuring:

Kirk Talley
Allison Speer
First Love
Phil Cross and Poet Voices

For tickets call Dot at 865 933 2100 or email her at dottie820@aol.com

This will be the last concert at Maryville College. The auditorium will be torn down and rebuilt so there won't be concerts there for a long long time after this one. So I hope everyone that's been at one of the concerts there will be in attendance.

Sunday morning on the 26th, we will go to church at my home church, Maranatha Church of the Harvest in Lenoir City, TN and then we will head west to the Cumberland County Playhouse to see the production of STEELE MAGNOLIAS. After the play, we will go to the Cumberland State Park for their world famous buffet! The last time we went to the buffet, we had so much fun, we were there almost to closing time! It really will be a great weekend. Dot called the playhouse today and reserved some more seats as we have been getting really good response. So if you want to go with us, call Dot immediately at 865 933 2100 and give her your info so we all can sit together. The playhouse has us listed as Kirks Krew so we should be the biggest group there that day! Hope you all will come to the concert and then to church and then to the playhouse and buffet.

Cruise Update

There are only a few rooms left for the Cruise to the Bahamas April 24-29th. Call the office if you are interested in joining me, Anthony Burger and Shane Dunlap and a host of other singers on this trip! $649 per person includes all you can eat, your accommodations, port taxes, and nightly concerts. The only thing that it doesn't include is your tips. If you want an inside cabin, the price is $599 per person. I personally plan on eating that much in food alone! Come go with us! Let's make it a KREWse!

For those of you who ordered the book, Southern Gospel's Favorite 50 Songs, they were backordered but now we have the books in stock. So you will be getting yours in a few days. It's a great book that explains how 50 of your favorites were written. The writer interviewed the authors and found out some inside scoop on how they write and how certain song ideas were born. I am chapter 28 in the book with Serenaded By Angels. If you love to read and you love Gospel Music, you need to get this book. They are $12.00 each or 2 for $20.00. Call the office to order more than one. The book is listed in the store on the website.

In the last newsletter, I included two links that didn't work. They were links to two petitions. A man in Texas decided he wanted to help get me back at Dollywood and back on Solid Gospel Radio Network, so he created the petitions and so far there are hundred and hundreds of people who have responded. I had nothing to do with the effort but I really appreciate it. Here are the links again if you are so interested.

Please keep praying for my schedule to fill up. Also keep praying for my Mom and the sale of the Auto Lube Business. I appreciate your prayers more than you know.

I get asked a lot of questions from people who get the newsletter. Here are a few answers.

1. My mom is doing fairly well. I was up at their house last week with Pootie Puppy. My mom laughed and laughed as she played with the pup. It was great to see her laugh and enjoy herself. Mom has Alzheimer but she is still keeping house and still in good frame of mind. Mom has always been a very "up" person and she continues to be. She knows she has it but she don't allow it to "have her" she has it! I am very thankful for her good attitude.

2. No, Pootie Puppy is not mine, but I keep her every chance I get. She belongs to Rick and Buffy Lafollette and their children, Pootie Ann and Pootie Earl ( Bailey and Max) Actually right now as I am writing this newsletter she is sound asleep on my lap. I hope my elbows don't hurt her as I type!

3. No, Roger and Debra are not my parents. Roger is my brother so Deb is my sister in law, and Lauren is my niece

4. No, we are no relation to Joe and Marion Talley, who traveled years ago in the Midwest and Northeast.

5. Also, no relation to Ray or Bud Talley who used to travel with the Kingsmen .

6. My favorites so far on American Idol are Paris Bennett and the silver headed fellow named Taylor.

7. Diet Pepsi is still my favorite soft drink. Please don't forward me that email about them taking "Under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance.

8. I respond to email with brief answers because I get about 300 a day and between working at the store and being in the office and having any other time, I don't have a lot of time to respond.

9. The dumbest thing I ever did on stage-One night when I was with the Hoppers, I put my guitar around my neck and when I did, I ran the neck of the guitar through a globe type light fixture in the ceiling and sparks and glass flew everywhere.

10. No I don't cook.
