CommentsDiane,
You don't have a clue what you are talking about . I am a christian, I love God and my main desire is to serve him. And I am gay. I didn't ask for this same sex attraction, I didn't choose it. From a very early age, it's been this way in my life. I know many gay people and they all would tell you the same thing, it wasn't their choice. Noone in their right mind would choose such a socially unacceptable plague on their life. Noone chooses to be gay or straight. Did you choose to be straight or is that just the way it was for you? When you and the rest of the Pharisees stop judging and putting down people who wrestle with same sex attraction, maybe then will God's love really be manifested in your life. I am praying for you.

CommentsThis message is actually to Dianna below...The Bible tells us not to judge people!!! You need to get down on your knees and pray because apparently you have issues yourself. God is working in Kirk's life and we don't need people like you tearing him down. Talk to God about your problems instead of airing them out here!

CommentsI am a blood bought child of a King and one of these days I am going to make Heaven my home, but I must say I have a problem with your confession about your same sex attraction. The way you make it sound is that you were more or less born that way and my God does not allow a child to be born with that sin already embedded in them. Homosexuality is of the devil and to experience such feelings tells me that you were not as close to the Lord as you should have been to be experiencing such things. My God is GREAT and can defeat anything and I hope that you let Him defeat your problem. May God Bless You And Yours.....

CommentsKirk, What a wonderful time in Knoxville last night. Thank you for putting this event together for such a great cause. What an incredible lineup of artist! I know this took a lot of time and hard work to put this event together. Once again, you were incredible. It is obvious that God has His hand on you and is using you for His glory.
Love and prayers, Cindy

CommentsI would like to thank you for all the hard work that you put into the concert last night. It was very obvious how much work went into the concert. It was a great concert. The guests were tremendous, some I had heard and some were new to me, but all were wonderful. The lineup was the best. Kirk, last night your performance was the best I have ever heard from you. Just wish it could have been longer. I pray for you, we all have things happen in our life, but the most important thing is to know that Jesus is a forgiving Father. Just continue to sing His praises and again Good Job!!!! One question, what relation is The Talley Trio to you?

CommentsThanks for the Knoxville Unites benefit concert. You put together an awesome event and we all were blessed. What a great lineup of artists! Everyone was terrific. We were especially moved by your great duet "Oh Lamb of Calvary".
If anyone has not seen you in concert, they are missing quite a blessing. May God continue to bless and use you!

CommentsKirk,
Thank you so much for putting together "Knoxville Unites". As I mentioned to you briefly after the concert, it truly was amazing. The talent was exceptional and the singing was unbelievably good. Not only did it raise a lot of money for the American Red Cross, the spirit of God was with us and I believe a lot of hearts were touched tonight.
I do want to tell you something else - after hearing you and the girl from "2 or More" sing "Oh Lamb of Calvary", I know in my heart you are a new person. You could not have sung that song that way if you had not allowed God to work in your life. God has blessed you with the gift of singing, and He would not have allowed you to put your heart into the song in the way that you did, if you had not changed. I've heard your testimony and I know it could help a lot of people in similar situations, but you don't have to apologize to anyone any more. God has forgiven you. That was evident tonight.
If that one song had been the only one sung tonight, it would have been worth the trip and the traffic and the crowd.
Thank you for everything, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Also, I bought your latest DVD tonight, just for that one song. One more thing - I hadn't heard Shane sing until tonight. He has an excellent voice and he fits in perfectly with you and Anthony!

CommentsHenderson was the first CONCERT of yours I've atttended. The thing in Smyrna was completely different. I'm fairly good with adjectives, but after fantastic, amazing, wonderful, spirit-filled, etc., I tend to run low. May I just say that if/when people look at your schedule, and see that you're within driving distance of them, I heartily encourage them to make the trip. As I told you that night in Henderson, and in an e-mail - - if you're within driving distance of me, I'll be there. I'll try for Kerrville, even though it's a week night. YES! Record that song. There are lots of people out there who need to hear it.

Kirk, let me first say that I almost fell off the couch and onto the floor when I read your newsletter just now about your struggle with same-sex attraction! I have enjoyed hearing you sing ever since your days with the Cathedrals (when I first fell in love with Southern Gospel music). Of course, the Cathedrals are, were, and forever will be my all time favorite group to ever grace a stage, but don't worry-your family holds the "distinction" of being the very first CD I ever purchased (The Talley's-"Love Will"). How's that for an honor ;) !!!!! Anyway, I guess I don't follow the news closely enough, (and obviously do not go on artist's web sites often enough), as this was the first time I have heard about all of this. I sang with a (regional) Southern Gospel quartet for over 10 years, and finally had to quit because I couldn't keep dealing with the constant "when are you going to get married?" and the non-stop "why don't you ask so-and-so out?" at every church we traveled to (which consisted of 13 states each year at the time). I simply could no longer handle having to come up with "creative" answers as to why I never had a girlfriend. I ended up having a complete nervous breakdown in August of 2001, went into counseling, and have been on Zoloft and other Rx's ever since, just to "go on". I can not express to you enough how much I miss singing Southern Gospel music, how much I miss traveling to different churches, how much I miss recording in the studio . . . well, you get the drift. A little history . .. . I first came to the realization that I only had "attraction" to other members of the same sex at the start of junior highschool. I accepted Christ as my Saviour at the age of 12 (a year prior to this "realization"). However, I had no idea that my attraction was "straight from the pits of hell itself" until two years later when my family joined an independent Baptist church, where I quickly learned that pretty much anything whatsoever, from same-sex attraction, to having your hair touch your ears, etc. th

Thanks for your ministry. I love your music and have been a fan now for several years. More so now than ever. And thank you for telling me about Tahitian Noni Juice. My blood pressure is down, I have had a boost in energy, and my arthritus doesnt' hurt nearly as bad as it did when I started drinking the juice. Honestly It sounded too good to be true at first, but now I see how good it is. Thank you for taking the time to share it with me when I asked you about it.

CommentsHi Kirk. I saw your show in Sheboygan, Wis., yesterday afternoon, and I
wanted to write and compliment you and your familiy for your
performance. I don't write letters to all the performers I see. But you
and the rest of the Talleys sang with such sincerity and conviction that
the entire afternoon was a thrill.
I wanted to compliment you, especially, for your ability to connect with
the audience. With many gospel singers, it is evident that they have
done this show a thousand times and they -- understandably -- they can't
put their hearts into it. You had your heart in it, even though you have
done the performance so many times. Thank you. It's a pleasure to see
genuine joy in a performer.
As I was searching for your e-mail address, I came upon your testimony.
It was breathtaking. I don't share your struggle, but like everyone
else, I have struggles of my own. You are dealing with it the way you
deem appropriate, and along the way you are learning about love and
grace and acceptance. It's an inspiring story. I hope the gospel
community finds a way to accept you and welcome you into their hearts.

CommentsKirk, I just heard your testimony and it blessed my heart. That is the God I serve, I get blessed everytime I hear a story of redemtion. I do a Southern Gospel radio show and have played your songs for years to countless thousands of people who go through strugles like that all the time. I have played your songs all along and continue to pray that God will use you to let others know of his love, He knows we are not perfect and we are fooling ourselves if we think he does not know our deepest thoughts.
I can't wait to see you in person and thank you for being brave and speaking out for those who are opressed by a church or family who think they are to holy to have thoughts that conflict our teaching. THANK YOU.

CommentsThe day fianlly came, and my wife and I made it to the concert at Henderson, Texas. We expected to hear great gospel music, hear some humorous stories, and generally be inspired. It turned out to be an event far far beyond our expectations.
Getting the opportunity to shake your hand and get a good Christian hug was one highlight of the night, but even that wasn't the topper.
The way the concert ended was magical. Any concerts we have attended in the past always seemed to end with the performers raising the pitch to an ever increasing peak until the audience is spent from the
fever-pitched finale.
The word awesome is sometimes over-used, but in this case it even falls short of what took place. Your rendetion of "Intimate with Jesus" was breathtaking. Then, your talk about compassion and understanding, Christian Love, and your final prayer brought on a mood in the audience I have never witnessed before. It seemed as if all hearts were in tune together, and the Spirit of the Lord was throughout.
As the final announcements and prayer were made, I realized you didn't even get applause for your last song and statement. There was no need. You had become part of everyone there, and there was an intimacy between you and us that was true Christian Love. Bless you, our Brother, and bless your ministry. May the Lord use it right up to the moment he returns. Also, the new song you "tried out" on us --- YES, record it. It's a message that needs to get out.
Your rendition of "The Potter's Hands" is wonderful. It reminds me of a song by the Florida Boys a few years back called "Broken Vessels". To me, both songs are equal in getting that message out. By the way, my wife and I have NEVER spent more than $35-40 at a concert at an artist's table. I won't tell you how much, but we busted our budget by a lot more than that. (Proud of it too!)
Look forward to seeing you back this way soon. Hope your visit to Malakoff was good.

CommentsI'm not sure where I've been as I've never heard your testimony regarding your struggle. I've enjoyed your singing on the Gaither videos and that's where I first knew who you were. I guess I've lived in a cave. Your testimony has done much for me Kirk as I've also had to deal with a struggle in my own life. Just knowing you have dealt with that also helps me to meet my "giant" just as David did. The army of King Saul ran away just as we try to run. Just as you did for so many years. I wish we had not failed you for not being there when you were facing your own Goliath. I will include you in my prayers each day. You do the same for me. I'll meet you at the Eastern gate and introduce myself. God bless you Kirk. Keep on singing for Christ. His angels will sing for us. Love in Christ.

CommentsKirk, I read your testimony and I praise God for your honesty and for facing your "problem" head on and working thru it. I know that our God will deliver you and walk beside you always. Just lean on Him and know He will be there when everyone else turns their back. I do not pretend to know the answers but I do know the same Lord that died on thecross for all our sins, and He knows our heart. You can sing again, you can go back on stage again and sing the wonderful Gospel songs you do so well. I have missed you on the Gaither Concert stage. May God bless you and give you wisdom, courage and honor always. An avid fan of Gospel Music, Mae

I attended your concert at Henderson last night, September 16, 2005. It was wonderful. There is a minister in Dallas, Texas who pastors at Cliff Temple Baptist Church - his name is Glenn Schmucker. I receive his sermons every week and after hearing about your life last night and reading your testimony today, I believe he would be a man you would love to know. I intend to send you some of his sermons which I have on my computer at work. I think they will be something you may want to read. He seems to be a more liberal thinking preacher and believes we should love everyone. Will send the sermons from my office as soon as I am able to locate them. My prayers are with you - keep writing the wonderful music and singing for other folks such as myself who has been down the lesser attractive road of life.

CommentsKirk,
Your story is so familiar. I grew up in church where my mom was the song leader in a small southern Oklahoma town. My grandparents were evangelists and my whole family talented to sing and play instruments---most quite well. I fought the feelings you described and in high school there was hardly a day that went by that I didn't ask the Lord to please take the feelings I had away. I am now 44 and 2 years ago I quit fighting the feeling, and I told my wife of 22 years who was quick to divorce me and take everything I had worked for. I didn't fight it, I felt she was deserving. I still am involved in the home church I grew up in and am still the church pianist. Several years ago I had bottomed out and was so depressed and I went to Oklahoma City to a concert. The Talleys were performing. Debra was featured on the song, "If it had not been". It gave me a renewed hope and strength to carry on. I don't understand how so many people who call them selves "Christian" can be so UN-Christlike. They just don't understand. I don't know of anyone who has a similar story who simply chose to come out because they just decided one day to do it. I support your effort and my prayers are with you. Thanks for your honesty.
Sincerely,
Terry Grant

CommentsWell, the red letters in my Bible tell me exactlly how God feels about wicked sinners in New Orleans or North Carolina or Kansas or Rome or Jerusalem. He has commanded His love, His blessing, His goodness and His intercession on them. Have you read Matthew 5:43-48 recently. It tells us to be perfect like our Father. You know, our Father who makes sure all those nasty, wicked people get all the rain and sunshine they need - just like His children do. If he didn't, none of us would survive. Thank God for grace!

CommentsI am always amused that so many people believe they have the mind of God - in reference to "He's Had Enough."
Not long ago, a certain TV preacher called for our govenment to "take out" a democratically-elected world leader, later obfuscating that he HADN'T said what people THOUGHT he said, even though the "taking out" comment came in the next breath after he'd mentioned assasination.
If we're to accept that all those who believe they have the mind of God actually HAVE the mind of God, then surely we must also believe that the Lord is schizophrenic...
Kirk, regardless of what might have been said and done BY you and TO you and ABOUT you, God loves you more than ANYBODY, and I believe that should be sufficient, you know? I'm touched that you have been able to increase your ministry over the past several months, and I KNOW that God will continue to bless you as you follow Him and proclaim His love. Your ministry remains on my prayer list.
I know in my heart that there are some believers who are in for quite a shock when they get to the other side of this life and find some of the people who are waiting to greet them there...I can hardly wait to see it unfold!

Well to everyone writing comments, just remember that there are wicked people all over the US. New Orleans, San Francisco, or any other city should not be singled out for "wickedness."
Especially when considering natural disasters. If God was really angry, he would have totally wiped certain cities off the map with no chance of recovery.
As for Kirk being brought down? I don't think so! He's definitely reaching a lot more people now. Thank you Kirk for sharing your testimony and for being honest! That shows true courage!
And to all those supposed "Christians" out there who refuse to forgive, remember that a sin is a sin in God's eye, no matter what it is.

Thank you for your testimony. It is so easy for a kid who grew up in a Christian home to pass condemnation. While I am thankful for Christian heritage and would not change it. I sometimes think as a young Christian I would have appreciated grace more if my life had not been easy. It is hard for some reason to extend grace, the same grace that God gave to us when Christ died on the cross. It is odd isn't it?
I struggle daily with things that only God and I know about. Often I do not even know how to pray about the situation.
Long story short, as the body of Christ our job is to love the lost, hurting, and backslidden to Christ and his love. Not to condone any actions but, to let God take care of the sin.
I still find myself at times sitting on my own self made throne casting judgement. God help me and show me............

Can you tell us why God is punishing us over here on the NC coast? We aren't a wicked city like New Orleans, we are just common church going people that love the Lord. As usual I was by myself and so I turned the volume up really loud. Although I have heard the testimony before, the testimony CD still delivers a power punch and speaks to the very heart of those who listen. You amaze me. How anyone could say that the hand of the Lord is not on you, is beyond me. I am sure as you write, it is a catharsis for you as a higher power speaks through you. I just can't tell you how great the entire project is!

CommentsIt is always amazing how we mere humans endeavor to interpret the thoughts of God. Mr. "He Has Had Enough" is certainly a prime example. The fact is "His thoughts are not our thoughts, nor are our ways His ways. His ways are higher than ours and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8,9)
To declare that God has had enough is speaking for One that is more than able to speak on His own behalf.
True, all transgressions concern our Creator. He spoke to the issues at Calvary. The matter of judgement was dealt with and none of us has the assignment to act as judge and jury of any city or individual. The substitutionary death of Jesus was not an alternative plan, but the only plan that would appease a holy God. God honoring people have suffered in this terrible disaster and to declare such warped thinking is not in keeping with the God of the Scriptures. Like each of us, Mr. "He Has Had Enough" needs to be grateful that God's mercy is still extended. Where would any of us be without His mercy? Now think about that!

CommentsTo "He's Had Enough"
What a crock! If God wanted to rid society of all the sinners in New Orleans, why did good God fearing people like my brothers family have to lose everything they had? My brother is a Pastor, he has spent his life serving others and Christ. He now has nothing left, he is in a shelter, can't get back to Slidell. If God wanted to get rid of homosexuals, I am sure he would know, there is a much bigger gay population in San Francisco. You are one of those judgemental people who love to stir up trouble and hurt people with your stupid rude comments. You think you know the mind and heart of God, but I seriously doubt you know anything about the LOVE of God. I am praying for your eyes to be opened to a loving, kind, savior. One that says "whosoever may come".

Thanks for signing the cd's for all of us, and thanks for being real, fun, and a great musician. We grew up listening to you, and are still big fans. Though we listened to N*Sync and Wynonna Judd on the way to the concert, we very happily placed our new cds in for the trip home. God bless you ministry, and maybe you can help others to stop lying to us about how perfect they think they are. Man, the roads are strewn with whited sepulchres. It's starting to stink out here!!! lol. Anyway, I'm as bad as you are with long messages. We promise we'll pay more attention to the Mapquest directions next time when they say to veer off. I think you're testimony is wonderful! You are a very couageous individual and I believe God will use you in wonderful ways to minister to other hurting souls. All to the glory of God. I have listened to you for many years and would recommend your songs and singing to anyone. God Bless You!

CommentsMy wife and I enjoy your music so very much. We have been to your concerts several times over the last several years. We enjoyed your picture of Sherrill's in Tipton so much. We live about 25 miles north of there in Galveston, In. and have been past there many times. Keep up the good work!

CommentsKirk,
I heard you sing at my church, Shannondale over Labor day weekend along with Crystal River. Your songs touched a place in my heart. I know that when you sing it comes from within your heart, not just words of a song. You have a God given talent and I think it is wonderful that you have shared your story and testimony publically. Always look to HIM for guidance and you WILL receive it. It is not for me or anyone else to judge. Thank you for singing for us at Shannondale. May God Bless you daily.

CommentsI just want to encourage you in the Lord. None of us are perfect and we have all failed at one time (or many times) or another. I made a promise to God a long time ago. I promised Him as long as He never gave up on me, that when I stumbled and fell, I would get back up again. There have been times it took me longer to get back up again, but I can tell you that He was there waiting ... He NEVER left me or gave up on me.
Kirk, don't be afraid of their faces. Don't sing for self, for family, friends, or fans, .... sing for Him. He loves you so.

Kirk's new DVD - LIVE AT THE RIVER - MY STORY - MY SONG is a must for everyone's DVD library. I have many videos and DVD's and this one certainly ranks right up there as one of the best. The music Kirk selected is the best - the music is beautiful! His testimony is an inspiration to all of us! His guests include a quartet, Crystal River, Allison Speer and others - they are all excellent. I laughed and I cried! If you don't already have it - YOU NEED IT!

CommentsKirk, you'll be happy to know that when I went to Kempton this past week, one of the people attending the concert was wearing his Kirk Talley shirts (the security shirt, and the old one with the things you believe...). With all that has happened, you still have fans at the Blue Mountain Gospel Music Festival. I saw the article about you in that GQ magazine. I'm glad you're coming back. With all you've done for the Lord, and for Gospel Music, we need Kirk Talley in Southern Gospel Music

Wehave had Larnelle & Sandi with their
"We've Just Seen Jesus and now we have Kirk & Allison with "Oh Lamb of
Calvery". It is truly a song with just power that you just want to listen to it
over & over again.
Thanks to you both for giving so much
of yourselves to the singing of this
song.
