Kirk, Thank you for persisting and rising above those who want to stiffle your ministry. If people had to be perfect to be in ministry, Christ would have been the only one that carried the Gospel. Thank you for being strong enough to keep going, even in the midst of your struggle, even though your peers think you should just fold up the talent that God has given you. Sorry to say, I wasn't a big fan before everything happened, but I sure am one now. When you get to South Georgia, I will definitely be there on the front row.

CommentsKirk, I have saw you 1998. I was at a Bill Bailry concert in Wymamma, FLorida and you sang Serenade by Angels. Unknown to me, my mom was dying in a hosptial in Miami Florida (where i lived). When I got back home I told my family that I had just heard the perfect song for her funeral. We played your CD at her service and the spirt of God was so sweet there. I enjoy your music and look forward to your trips to South Florida ( I only wish they were more often)
I love being a part of Kirk's Krew and getting your emails.

While having lunch at my favorite BBQ stand today, I asked the owner if he
listened to Southern Gospel music. He had not, so I went to my car and got the Serenade CD and we went to the back where he has Karaoki on Saturday nights. I put the cd in without showing it to him. He listened to Serenaded by Angels for a few minutes and turned to me with tears in his eyes and said "WHO IS THAT?" I told him who you are and the story behind the song. Just as the song ended, his wife came in and he ran to her and said "honey, you have got to hear this!!" I left him the cd, until my next Saturday visit. I think you have two new fans. What a powerful presence and message you have to even those unfamiliar with Southern Gospel music.

I just read your testimony and am very impressed with it..I also went through some of the things you have. A lot of the same feelings. I grew up in Church of the Nazarene. I was saved as a teen at an old-fashion camp meeting. Life has been a real struggle for me, so I know what you are talking about. I just knew in my heart I could NOT be a Christian and be gay. One night, in a local Pentecostal
Church, Jesus my Lord and Saviour met me at the altar..I prayed like I never had before...of course no one in the Church, escept my friend I went with, knew what I was struggling with in my life..I saw Jesus standing before me with out-streched arms welcoming me back to Him. Jesus said to me, " I love you just as you are. Go in peace."

CommentsHi Kirk,
I can't understand the people, ie. disc jockeys that won't promote your concerts, promoters who won't have concerts with you on them. I hope some of those people will at least come to your website & read what we have to say. My Bible teaches me to hate the sin & love the sinner, not turn your back on them & act like they're poison. Where are the real Christians out there who stand by other Christians when they are in need. We hear it in our pulpits every week, but where is the action. I just can't understand their unChristian like behavior. What is wrong with these people. They are the ones you need to be singing to because they need healing worse than any body of believers I know. Maybe some of your other fans can enlighten me as to what is going on. The Lord commanded us to forgive more than 70 times 7. To me that means we have to constantly forgive. I hope & pray that the Holy Spirit will get a hold of them & shake them until their teeth rattle & they come begging for your forgiveness. I'm seriously thinking about writing to Bill Gaither & also to Singing News. They probably won't print my letter, but at least I'll get this off my heart.
Love,
Linda

YOU ARE TOO HONEST AND TOO GOOD!!! They are used to that Southern Gospel Entertainment. What I heard and saw tonight was ministry unlike anything I have ever seen at a Gospel Concert! You have already stepped it up to a new level. I am asking God to stir up all his gifts in you as you are honest and open with audiences! God's using you in a new way, don't look back to how things used to be........things are only going to look better! My entire family was moved tonight by your ministry. Thank you

We saw you last night in Chambersburg. What a great concert! We were thrilled to hear Crystal River for the first time. They are great and we appreciate you introducing them to Pennsylvania for the first time. We were saddened to hear that WTRM wouldn't accept Mr Hollingers money for ads to promote the concert. I will definitely curb my support of them if thats the way they are going to be "christian" That's just ridiculous. And I will speak to Twila at Garden Spot Promotions in Lancaster also. I am sure everyone she books is perfect. . . . . . .

CommentsDear Kirk,
I am a 40 year old man that has faced the same struggles and desires that you have faced. I also have sung Gospel music most of my life in churches around my home town and surrounding areas. I was once a United Methodist Pastor. And yet because of the desires that I felt and acted on, I left the pastorate and now do not sing. Kirk, I believe that I am a child of God, I was saved at the age of 12 and yet I get so tired of the constant struggle, the times that I fail to fight those urges, and the overwhelming guilt afterward. I understand your struggle, and I pray for you and have hurt for you because of all that you have had to go through. I hope that I am not mistaken in believing that I can be forgiven and healed. I too married a beautiful girl to "make" myself normal. It ended in divorce after 8 months. No one in my family except my sister knows about my "secret" life. She does not want to hear or talk about it. Because it is "wrong and disgusting". I pray that your struggle is over and that you have been healed. I have surrendered many times and begged God to heal and transform me into someone that could and would love and devote myself to a worman. I am sorry that I have poured out my life to you, but I wanted you to know that many of us understand. I love you as a brother and fellow sufferer. I own several Gaither videos and love watching and hearing you sing. The angels in heaven, I believe, stop what they are doing to listen to you. Peace to you and unconditional love. God Bless. Jamey.

I have been completely blessed just reading your testimony and I thank you for sharing and being completely honest. You have been in my thoughts & prayers since your struggle began last year. I am so excited that you are back on the road and sharing your story with others. I truly believe when we share it blesses not only ourselves but others who may be struggling with their own demons. That is the evil ones method of dividing God's people by making us think we are the only ones who may be feeling whatever the struggles may be and that we should not open up to anyone for fear of rejection.
Kirk, thank you for blessing me with your journey and I pray God's continued blessings and His face to shine upon you and give you peace.

CommentsWhy share the gospel?:
After accepting Jesus we have us authority and protection. We must share the gospel with other non-believers who are otherwised destined for Hell. Matthew 28:16-20 All authority in heaven on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciplies of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
Our need for salvation(Read Genesis Ch. (1-3)
First you must realize you are a sinner Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God; Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the Gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus. Scripture also says he who claims to be without sin in His life is a liar. Not accepting Jesus and denying God's word is the unpardonable sin: Anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved(can be found in Acts 2 and Romans 10); John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life; For whosoever confesses me before men, Him will I confess before my Father in Heaven(Matthew 10)... but if he does not confess me before men neither will I confess Him before my Father. He is preparing a place for those who believe(John 14:1-2). You don't have to understand theology; Come as little children. No one(certainly not Satan can seperate you from the Love of Christ) John 10:27-30. This is only the tip of the iceberg; I trust the Holy Spirit will speak to some of you. As a believer(new or old) I caution you to observe two very important principles(Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together; fellowship is God's command and desire); 2. Study to show yourself approved unto God. a worker that not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth. There are those who will twist scripture. Read your Bible daily, pray, and under the Holy Spirit's guidance discover truth. Do not lean on your own understanding.... Proverbs 3:5-6; Don't just accept everything you hear; study for yourself. For Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the Life." (John 14) God bless you. I will try to post a little more later as Christ leads. If you accept Him, he will richly bless you beyond measure and lead you to truth.
In His love,
Happy

I was at your service in FL and I haven't felt such a strong annointing in a long time. As I heard your testimony, I was thinking how sorry I feel that many in the church have rejected you. I used to be one of those who think gay people are out to slap God in the face. Then I met a new friend at work who I could tell was searching. I shared what the Lord had done in my life. She said "But God hates lesbians, doesn't he?" I told her if that is what she was hearing from "the church" then we weren't doing a very good job. Two years of friendship later she accepted Jesus into her heart at age 41. She is truly born again. I think of my own gay brother who died of Aids, and my closet gay father who is married to a woman & steps out on her with men. I stand with you Kirk, as you bring a message of Jesus' unconditional love, encouragement and hope for the hurting

CommentsI just finished listening to your interview from the 8th. When they played "I Know Him", I was reminded of something that happened when I was at the dentist (ouch) the other day. I have one of the buttons that says "I Know Him" pinned on the strap of my handbag. Well, I had placed my handbag on the seat next to me and went to get a magazine to read. There was a gentleman sitting across from me and as I returned to my seat he said "Am I supposed to ask you who Him is?" He caught me by surprise and I didn't realize what he was referring to. He could tell so he pointed to the pin and I just looked at the man and pointed up. I think he was a little uncomfortable as he relied "Oh, well everybody knows Him" and I responded "well, not everyone". At that point he got quiet and it was obvious he wasn't going to pursue the conversation. So I just prayed the Lord would get him to thinking and then send other Christians his way. You know, I'm not a very bold person, but I'm leaving that button right where it is and I'm praying the Lord will use it to open some doors. Then I'm praying He will give me the boldness to seize the opportunities to plant some seeds or water some that have already been planted! Thanks for the "witnessing tool"!
As always, stay close to the Shepherd!
In His Boundless Love,
Lorraine

CommentsHi Kirk, I attend Bill Bailey's Happy Gospel Center in Bradenton Fl. and had the privilege to meet you last night before you gave your testimony. You are truly a man of God and have given me strength to go on too. I have been going through the worst trial of my life and when you sang the song "When God Says No" everything seem to make sense. I have been praying that God would put my marriage of 22 years back together. He seemed so far away and I couldn't understand why he would let me suffer like this. I couldn't understand why he kept saying "no" to my plea's but now I realize that he has a plan for my life that will be so much better than I can imagine. He has a far greater plan for you too Kirk and just know that even though we don't know each other personally you are in my prayers. I really believe God knew from the time you were young that you would be a great singer and people would look up to you. He also knew you would be the perfect advocate to address this issue to the church and this is why he let it happen the way it did. If people didn't know who you were then the impact of your message would not be as great. Hang in there brother and know you have touched my life.
Sincerely, Karen Kirby
PS: Please tell me where I can find the lyrics to "When God Says No".

If Barb is so interested in what is going on with you and your life, tell her to come to a concert or purchase the new viedo when it comes out. It will tell her all she needs to know, and more. Thaks for your continued work for the Kingdom. You truly are a blessing to so many people. Music is one of God's greatest gifts, and God has given you a true gift of the Spirit. Dear Kirk, I am writing this in GuestBook after reading your Testimony on your Website. You see, It reminded me about my bondages, burdens, and abusive years growing up I was abused in the worst way for a young girl at age seven years old, maybe I shouldn't say anymore about those years? You see, I've been born again and set free of all of my past too. It wasn't my fault either. God forgave me as He did you too, set me free of guilt, He loves me, died for me as He did for you. I praise Him for your testimony and your ministry. He will keep His arms around both of us anytime we need Him to, I thank Him for everything that He has blessed me with daily. I'm a Christian widow who loves the Lord, Gospel Singing, love people, also like some country music, baseball games. I will pray for you, Would you pray for me? Would like to see you give your testimony in person one of these days or evenings! Once again, I love your music and everything you are doing for Jesus. Sincerely A Pal, Kymberley

Kirk, I have enjoyed your music for years. From the time I was a teenager and heard He Is Here to the present I have always loved your message. I want you to know that you are constantly in my prayers. I would like to pass on to you a saying that I learned as teenager at church camp.
It's not in trying but in trusting.
It's not in running but in resting.
It's not in wondering but in praying that you find the strength of the Lord.
God Bless you Kirk. Keep doing HIS will.

CommentsDear Kirk:
I have been listening to you and you have blessed me with your songs. I love the trio and my favorite is Glory Road too. I think you are a mighty man of God and I salute you for you honesty and willingness to stand up. I have only met you once, but my heart went out to you when I discovered the turmoil you ahve been through. I have prayed for you every day and I will continue to pray for you. I am certian that restoration is in need here and I am praying for you to be restored. I pray you find peace and comfort. Be blessed, my friend.

Kirk,
I just want to say I admire you for being truthful and I love your singing. I love to hear the Trio also. My favorite song that you and the Trio sing is Glory Road. I play it over and over again.
Satan always has a way of putting roadblocks in a christians way and trying to ruin his or her testimony.
I especially enjoyed your hurmor also. I love watching the old SGMAward Shows where you and the Trio host.
I was married for 44 years before my husband died of Cancer. Each day I haave learned to trust the Lord more.
I have a son who is a pastor of a Missionary Baptist Church.
Satan loves to troounce on those who are down.
Don't let him win.
You are very coreagous in your testimony. When you face your problems with the LORD'S haelp you will overcome.
May God ever keep you in his hands.
A fan.

CommentsKirk,
As you know, we have been knowing each other for over 30 yrs. This Sun. morning 6/05/05, I have NEVER seen God deal with you or show HIS presence through you like HE did yesterday and that includes Belair Hi School when you took your shoes off on Holy ground. Satan comes at ALL of us every day but WE can not let him have the victory!!!
Gods continued Blessings and may June the 9th be a happy happy day and also June 30th for me!!! love ya

CommentsNow maybe I can finally just be me. Thank heaven!!...It has always amazed me throughout the years how we as Christians, place such unrealistic expectations and standards on those who serve us in ministry (whether it be a pastor, teacher, or singer.)....It has truly grieved my spirit to read many of the mean spirited messages recently posted about Kirk on his own message board....It never ceases to amaze me how so many of us are so quick to jump on board in condemning a leaders ethics, moral failures, or actions. We cry aloud that these types of people should be ashamed for letting us down, and yet we soon forget all the good they have done in the past...Think about it.... How many of you have ever considered the true beauty and anointing of some of the songs written and recorded by Kirk??? How blessed we have been to have him in our Christian circles to provide us with songs like "Mercy Forgot", "Field of Grace," or I Know Him." The numbers of persons that have been comforted in times of bereavement, personal hurts, etc, with songs like these are countless. We will never know the full impact that some of these songs have had on the lives that Kirk's music has touched... If he never sang or wrote another song... if he never stepped onto a stage again to proclaim the wonder of Christ...if he never gave another invitation for those in his audience to accept the Lord... Surely we can still say that many have been blessed by his ministry... I don't know the details about Kirk, but what I do know is this: LEADERS ARE HUMAN. They rise, and they fall.... Nonetheless, they lead us to greater things. My life has been touched by his ministry.... I think it's time that we stand and say FORGIVE US, Kirk. For WE have failed YOU! You have blessed us and ministered to our broken spirits for 30 years... and now it's our turn for us to pour the healing oil inside you....THANK YOU, Kirk, for you graciousness... Forgive us for our hurtful words and our ignorance in neglect to show you our appreciation for the good you hav

CommentsIn my 64 years on this earth, I have discovered that the people in my life who are the most judgmental and intolerant are immediate family members and people who profess to be Christians. It seems that you are having problems with those two groups in your life also. We must remember that the ONLY person we must please is GOD. It's nice to have the others are on our side but not necessary. Keep on keeping on and know that a lot of us poor sinners saved by grace love you.

CommentsI looked up your website tonight for the sole purpose of reading your testimony. My Aunt from Laurinburg, NC, called & told me about you speaking at their church last night & how wonderful & inspiring it was. You won't know how many lives you've touched until you get to heaven, Kirk, & not just with same sex attraction. Your testimony is one of hope, when there feels like there is no hope, in dire circumstances. I've been dealing with depression for many months now & if it weren't for God, I wouldn't be here right now. I've been married & divorced twice & at 53, have had several major surgeries in the last 18 months. I'm back at work but my finances are in shambles, among other things. People don't always understand but God always loves us. That's the only thing that gets me from day to day & testimonies like yours. My 36 yr. old niece is gay & lives with her partner. None of us (her family) approve but we love her & we let her know that we love her. How is being cruel to someone going to help them & bring them closer to God? Your sister's problem is between her & God & something she will have to answer for.
You have my support & prayers & if you're ever nearby I WILL be there to hear you sing & witness to God's enduring love & power to free us, as long as we relinquish our lives to him.
Your sister in Christ,

CommentsIt was good to see Kenny Bishop on your photo page of the recent concert. I miss hearing him & seeing him with his brother Mark & Dad Ken, Sr. They were a great family group with amazing harmony. I hope they get together full time in the future again.

DO NOT JUDGE,OR YOU TOO WILL BE JUDGED .For in the same way you judge others .you will be judged, and with the measure you use ,it will be measured to you ,why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye and pay no attention to the plank in your eye? how can you say to your brother , let me take the speck out of your eye, when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? you hypocrite , first take the plank out of your own eye , and then you will see clearly to remove the speak from you brothers eye. matthew 7;1-5
How can we judge OTHERS and we are not able to judged are self ,there is only one Great Judge , WHO WILL JUDGE ALL

I learnt you at Myrtle Beach at Singing in the Sun.I loved you then and I love you now. When you came off the road I did not understand and it broke my heart for I really enjoyed your singing and your personality. You were a down to earth guy.I have missed you and yesterday I was in the Bible Book store looking for a certain song by a certain group when I saw a tape from you and liked to have had a spell right there in the store.Needless to say I got tape and I enjoyed it.I am glad you are back ansd will keep you in my prayers. If you are ever in my area I will be sure to go see you for I'd love to see you again.God can use you to reach some that ordinary might not would be able to be reached for you have traveled the road.Just keep looking up and keep the faith. If people can not forgive you then they need prayer themselves.Just know I still love you and am praying for you.Glad you are back!!!!

CommentsI just finished reading your testimony, and I cried. I'm going through the same things that you went through, execpt I have never been married. I was also raised in the church, but have struggled with the same feelings since I was 15. My prayer has been lately if I could just talk or chat with someone that understands. So this morning, I got on my computer and did a google search, As I scrolled down I found your testimony. Read it, and I feel like there is hope also for me. I could feel the moving of the Holy Spirit as I read it. First time I have felt Him this strong in a long time. To be honest I have heard your name before, don't even know anything you sing. I have never really listened to southern gospel music. I usually listen to contemporary Christian/or praise and worship. Thanks for sharing your testimony on the web. I would love to come to one of your concerts sometime. I know your probably a very busy person. I would love to talk to you further sometime. Email me if you can. Thank you so much

Your music has been a blessing to me for a good deal of my adult life.
I want to commend you for your wonderful testimony. You have made a bold step by your candid expression of your struggle with the same sex attraction. You can be an encouragement to many who are struggling with such things in their life. That was your struggle, and perhaps it may still be to some degree. We all have a tendency to rationalize things in our life. It could be a tendency to "bend" the truth or it could be a tendency to take something that is not ours. It could be lust. It could be an unhealthy focus on our earthly posessions. Confession and repentence, keeping "short accounts" with our Lord and Savior is the only way. As the old song says; "Trust and Obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus; but to Trust and Obey."
Thank you for you testimony.

CommentsTo JOHN DOE
I understand somewhat of what your going through-just diffent. RIVER OF LIFE is an exceptional church with an exceptional pastor and pastors wife. They love people first and thats where it starts. I have been going there for three years and while no one knows my name they recognize my face and hug me and tell me how much they love me. I get there after service starts and leave just before it ends. I hold this church in great regards and attend there whenever I am in town as I travel extensively with my job. I would encourage you to send me an e-mail so we could talk further. I think you will learn that I understand better than you think.
email me JOHN DOE and we can discuss your situation in confidence.
