CommentsKirk, we all struggle with some type of sin I believe. It seems to be our bent in life.
Do not expect the Christian world to accept your struggles.
We are the first to shoot God's wounded children. I learned as a pastor that we all will struggle with something in our lives during our Christian walk.
Very rarely do we meet a Christian that has been so-called delivered from all the sins that so easily beset us.
That is why we have a savior who saves us daily and whos grace is always fresh and new. Great is His faithfulness.
I know you know this but here it is again"If He be for us, who then can be against us"
I know as a past minister that people like to see others fell that they might feel better about themselves.
Our struggles will come and go at times but our Savior Jesus never takes away our salvation. Only the world does.
God be with you.
ps. My struggles are not the same as yours but they are the same in God's eyes........

CommentsKirk, I added "The Potter's Hands" to my morning show on KJIC, www.kjic.org, and in one week I had so many responses to keep playing it that it is already in a medium rotation, which is great. Folks here in the Houston area area loving the message in the song. What an awesome song it is!! Listeners are thanking me for continuing to play your music and believe me I will!!

CommentsLove is the Gardener digging His trowel deep into the earth of our hearts and pulling up all the weeds. Violent as it may be, that digging and pulling, it is the beginning of new life.
I've just listened to "Live at the River" and your testimony CD, and I stand in awe of what the Lord is doing in you. Just look at how you're blooming! Look at the vibrant shades of glory and goodness He's revealing in you, through the pain of what Satan would use to destroy you. There's nothing that old creep can throw at you that Jesus can't transform into radiant beauty.
I pray for you, that God would daily refresh you with His living water, so that you can continue to reveal the Father's love and saving grace. In the meantime, I think we need to market some new bumper stickers with a revision on the old cliche'... "Fertilizer happens."
Blessings,
Heather

CommentsThe duet with Allison was wonderful last night. You made the night! Thank you for that song. I was hoping you would be asked to sing last week with the Talley Trio but was disapointed they didn't ask you to join them.
Keep your head up. Good things are coming your way

CommentsJust wanted to let you know how wonderful you sang Sunday at Knoxville First Church of the Nazarene. The song with Allison was awesome and the new song you recently wrote made my heart pound. We are so quick to judge in the church when people make mistakes. I am glad you are not afraid to sing "in your face" songs. WE definitely need them. You sounded and looked great and your DVD will make Christmas gifts this year

CommentsKirk,
What an inspiration you are to so many people. My daughter Tiffany and I have attended two of your concerts so far and what a blessing both were! We both feel that we have truly found a new friend, even though we do not know each other that well, your songs are from the heart and are an encouragement to many.
My personal life over the past five years or so has been dealt many blows, but God has seen me through each of my trials as he has you. God has truly blessed you with a great voice, continue using it to spread His word, and He will continue to Bless You.

CommentsI just found your website.
In Oct 2004, I moved from the Houston, TX area to a little place called Tulia. about 50 miles south of Amarillo, Tx. since I've been here I have had a hard time finding your music. (I have a hard time finding just about everything). I love everything you have written. I also have the funniest Video I've ever seen with you, Anthonyand Ivan.
On May 13, 2004 my oldest son was killed in an accident in the Tampa, FL area. I miss him more than I can express. I didn't lose him though, I know right where he is. He was one of Gods singers and players too and he loved your songs. Serenaded by Angels was his and my favorite. He planned on playing and singing it at MY funeral at my request. I'm 69 years old and we thought surely I would go first. I played it at his funeral instead.
I would really like to purchase your music but I don't use credit cards anymore. I would like to get some information as to how I can pay by check without driving 50 miles

CommentsNow I know how you can write those beautiful, heart-felt songs of pain and hope in the Lord. I always thought you must be writing with empathy for the pain you saw others go through, since you seemed so happy-go-lucky on stage. You could indeed feel your own hidden pain, as well as being compassionate toward the suffering of others.
I’m glad I checked your web site when I did, and saw that you were going to be at the Good Shepherd Church in Greenfield, Ohio. I had not heard much about you in a while, and sorely missed your music on the radio. I had not heard the details of your story, other than there was a court case and you would not be touring for a while.
I read the testimony on you web site, and was surprised at the frankness and was very moved for what you had experienced. It gave me a lot to think about. I am also a Baptist and know of the black and white issues of doctrine. I had mixed feelings about the matter myself, and had delayed forming a firm opinion. I felt it depended on individual stories. In the end, I guess it still does—but I have new compassion and understanding.
I went to Greenfield just wanting to see and hear you in person again. You’ve long been my favorite Christian artist. It didn’t hurt anything that I could also see former classmate Lanny Bryant and his wife Linda, with whom I used to work! Before you sang a note, I’d already bought the new music and other goodies (and blew the budget, but what the heck! It was worth it). Have been enjoying it ever since (and hope to get lots more).
I saw and heard a different Kirk Talley than I ever had before. Perhaps the change was in both of us. Let me tell you, I have not been as affected by any event as much as I was that one, since seeing the movie “The Passion of The Christ”. Both have caused me to search deeper within myself and love God more than ever.
I’d had no idea of your turmoil through the years – you hid it well. Your openness in the arena in which you had long served God, but had so roughly treated you, was heartwrenching to me. I’m certain you could not know how you would be received there or anywhere that you go. It breaks my heart that your record company and booking agents dropped you like a hot rock, never giving thought to the blessings you have brought to others for years. I understand, somewhat, their panic; but wish they had given you the chance to let the public choose. There is a fine line to be walked in deciding how to handle matters of faith. Unfortunately, they crushed you when they decided. I’m certain they did not mean to become the Pharisees (none of us do), but you have given the Christian community a lot to ponder.
I always thought of you as a person who grew up in church, loved music and loved God. With your singing and songwriting talents, you could make your living, and we all could enjoy the product of your work. This time around, I saw and heard a person who sang as if he loved and NEEDED God each and every day. It left me just wanting to give you a huge HUG. I felt your pain. I commented to you that possibly you were meant to teach us Christians about compassion – and I meant it. You’ve been on my mind ever since.
Having read on your web site of the G. Q. article, I went looking for it. Kudos to you for praying about it first—definitely the right choice. What an awesome job the writer did. There was sensitivity given to all matters, toward you and the church. I have renewed respect for you, for your fortitude and faith. I am ever grateful to those friends who were there for you at your time of need. I, too, “bear the cross” of being alone. In my case, I like to quote Minnie Pearl: “I could have married anybody I pleased; trouble is, I didn’t please anybody!” Ha. Hope you smiled. I completely agree with your statement regarding temptation vs. submitting to temptation. You’re a WISE man, Kirk Talley!
I am sorry that you have had to endure such gut-wrenching pain, but I hope that you feel freed of shame with the secret out. It worries me for you to have to face the mean attitudes some people will direct your way. It concerns me for your well-being, for you to have to tell this story wherever you go. The rollercoaster ride to the depths of rawness has to take a lot out of you. I hope that the doors that were slammed in your face, will re-open to you. God bless you for finding a way around them for now.
I am very glad to read on your web site of the results from your appearances. I’m glad to see that your incredible humor is coming easier to you these days. I’m sure there were way too many days without a smile.
One thing more that you really should consider, if I may be so bold – you should write a book of your whole life story thus far. With your command of words, I am sure it would be a work of humor and faith, trials and success. A great witness of Christ for the world to find, and a greatly-needed lesson for Christians to reach for the same compassion that Jesus showed to us. If you do not have the time or the inclination to do such a book yourself, you might consider contacting the same lady who wrote the G. Q. article. She’s up to it, if you ask me!
Keep on fighting the good fight, Kirk. You’re an even bigger blessing to those of us who love you than was ever possible before. I will keep you in my prayers.
A note regarding the web site: It was a very nice surprise for me to cruise through the photos posted there and see my classmate Lanny Bryant. I was also happy to come across a former co-worker, Bob Shadley. I hadn’t seen him in many a year! Thanks for EVERYTHING! .

CommentsBrother Kirk,
I am encouraged by your desire to simply stand in the light of His love and grace, trusting Him for every moment of every day. It would be so easy for the Lord to remove the things that seem to hurt us so much, but just like you, I have found there truly is blessing in the thorn. Sure, it hurts us, and we often find ourselves begging God to remove it, but His grace is sufficient, and if we all just keep looking to Him and not leaning on our understanding, He will guide us, bless us, and use us even in spite of our "thorns". Kirk, be blessed. You are one of many in need of His daily sufficient grace.
In Christ,
Chris

CommentsWhat an awesome program you had; whoever was responsible; you or Dot. Outstanding, wonderful guest.
The Trio never sounded better, Shane is excellent, I think he fits better than Ivan. Anthony, what can you say, he is beyond believing. We had him at out church a few months ago I don't have words to describe his ability to play, it defies your imagination. YOU, you still amaze me after seeing you for almost 20 yrs. I am so happy for you and what is going on now, and we still can't know how hard it is at times.
The quartet was super as well as the trio; the guest trio.
It was good to see and hear Kenny Bishop and Joyce. Your choice of guest reinforces to us that attend, enjoy and listen that God is Good and is the God of second, third
and more chances. Though the road is long and rough there is always enough. It makes me feel good!!!!

CommentsMr. Talley,
I read your story in GQ Magazine, so I found your website and read more of your testimony. Thank you for helping me by being honest. My life is in shambles, but you caused me to see that I could talk to God. I had gotten to the point to where I didn't think I could even pray anymore. I have no idea what southern Gospel Music is, but I will find out. Please pray for me.

CommentsKirk, I've just finished reading an artical in GQ magazine, August '05 issue about you and your life struggles. You, Roger & Deborah sang at the church I grew up in, Eddy Baptist Church, Arab, AL several years ago and I have always been a fan. I followed the Cathedrals, the Talleys and then your solo career. Our paths crossed again at my brother Fred's house in Baileyton, AL. It was a back yard concert where you sang. My brothers and I sang as well. I just wanted to write and let you know I love you and I know God loves you. I've struggled with a similar experience. My battle was with drugs and alcohol from which I've been free for over 7 years. I have experienced the same rejection and narrow mindedness that the GQ article talks about. I just wanted to tell you that your life experiences are tools that God equips you with to be of service to His children that he loves dearly!! I would love to talk with you and even if we never do please know that you and your ministry is always in my prayers! God's love and blessings to you from me and my family. Keep the faith, one day at a time! Peace and love, ART

CommentsKirk,
Live At The River is Phenominal!!! A true worship experience. If only the "so called Christians" who are judging you would stop and think where OUR GOD of love and mercy and forgiveness has brought them from, then maybe, just maybe, they wouldn't be so quick to judge. As for HappyFenton... in my opinion he's very very SAD..... And he's gonna be SweatyFenton@INeedGod.com when he's burning in hell. JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED, Happy!!!!
Moving right along.... I have listened to you sing since I was a little girl... Many of my dreams have come true... I sing in church and play the piano.... thanks for being an inspiration! Keep spreading the gospel and giving other hope through your testimony! SEE YOU IN GREENVILLE, SC!!!!!
Still Blessed!

CommentsKirk,
I was enriched by your new DVD and testimony last night. I have felt blessed all day. How I sensed the Spirit's presence! God is doing a wonderful work in you. I could sense your pain and yet I could sense such peace -- peace only God can give to those who have gone through the fire and come through victoriously!! And, praise God, you have the victory! It comes through in each song. God is using you in ways you never dreamed. Thank you for being a blessing to me.

Kirk,
Picked up a copy of GQ this week. The article is really inspiring. I am Southern Baptist and have also struggled my whole life with this issue. God is a loving God. No one has the right to condemn you. You just keep serving God the best way you know how.

CommentsDear Kirk!
Awesome!! That is how I describe your new DVD/CD. When does your next one come out? HA!HA! Watching you give your testimony brought tears to my eyes. As a sister in Christ, I wanted to take away your hurt, but I know that with God all things are possible. I really saw Christ in you as you sang "Intimacy In Jesus".
As for the quartet "Crystal River", how right you were about. They may not have the experience behind them in yers like "Greater Vision"(minus a bass), but they are just as good I believe. They're in the same league as "Legacy Five", Gaither's Vocal Band, & Signature Sound."
I thank God for Kirk Talley. May God continue to richly bless you.

CommentsListening to the Kirk's "My Story, My Song" brings back all of the emotion I felt during the recording in Smyrna. And anyone who thinks Kirk isn't serious about the God he serves has never seen the tears streaming down his face the way I did. I got a wonderful blessing from being in the service(s), and it comes through in the CD and the DVD. I think this is one of the best gospel recordings I've come across in a long time. If it doesn't bless you, then you're beyond all help. KIRK - - keep singing and praising the Lord. You're doing a GREAT JOB, and we love you for it.

CommentsYou amaze me. Last night in Maryville Tenn was the best concert I have been to in years. I saw real ministry but not in a church type setting. God used everyone on that stage to minister to me. I too have made unwise decisions, I too have been beaten down by people's remarks. I too am a sinner saved by Grace. Thank you for having the courage to continue to sing, in the midst of your own personal storm. Thank you for inviting Joyce Martin and Kenny Bishop to sare the stage with you. What a beautiful example of the Grace of God. YOU ARE A BLESSING

CommentsI received my copies of Kirk's new CD/DVD, "Live At the River..." on Thursday and could not wait to listen/view them. Let me start by saying that I was blessed to attend the taping of this project so I thought I knew what was awaiting me. I don't like to refer to that night or the next morning as "the taping" because they were truly worship services. Never have I felt the Lord's presence than I did at that time. There were times when Kirk was so focussed on worshipping the Lord that it seemed like the only 2 people in the room were Kirk and the Lord Jesus. As I watched the DVD this same feeling came over me and it was a much stronger feeling as I could see his face from a closer vantage point. During some of the songs, his eyes were closed and I knew that he was face to face with the Savior, pouring his heart out to Him. At one point, tears were streaming down his face and I knew Jesus heard every word and was saying "Kirk, I love you". This project contains, in my opinion, some of the best songs that the Lord has ever given Kirk. But, more important is his testimony (which is on a separate CD and is free). What an awesome example of the love and power of our God. I have been in the congegation to hear Kirk share his testimony 5 times and each time I am overwhelmed at the Lord's power to restore that which is broken and then to use that life to reach out to others. God has a plan for all of us and I believe He allowed Kirk to struggle and endure the pain he felt to bring him to the point where He could use him to reach people who might never hear the message of hope that is found in Kirk's testimony. This DVD and CD are excellent vehicles to share the love of God with someone who may never have an opportunity to hear Kirk in person.
One other thing, for those of you who choose to criticize Kirk; he is out ministering to people in obedience to the Lord not because he wants to be a hero. As I said, I have been there to see and hear him share his testimony. This is hard and the pain he feels is so evident. But this is what the Lord wants him to do and so he is faithful to do it. Like Wanda said, Kirk doesn't need me to speak for him, but he has been such a blessing to me that I must say something. Please go , hear for yourself and take the time to talk to him in person.
Kirk, my friend, thanks again for the blessings As always, stay close to the Shepherd...Lorraine

CommentsI just read down the page here to find a rather hateful comment from somone named Dee. I am sorry, Kirk, and I know that this just adds to the "pile" of closed minded christians that there are. If the person below knew anything about what was really going on in her OWN line of work, she would, as you probably already realize, find that there are many artists - musicians, singers, songwriters, that have a similar journey. We dont know the whys of these things, BUT.. if we turned off the mics and burned the pianos of all the gospel musicians who were gay or struggling with their most intimate feelings, knowing they loved the LORD and what they do-there would be a silent (mics off) bonfire (piano's burned) probably within her view... GO KIRK
Name: Bob Date: 08/21/05
CommentsWanda, I really appreciate your comments, but let me make one "adjustment". No, Kirk doesn't "need" us to speak from him, but the body of Christ does. As I was sitting watching the DVD last night, and as I was sitting in his concert a week ago in Birmingham, it really hit me how powerfully God is using Kirk to bring a new revelation of Grace and Mercy to the church. Listening to Kirk is like a breath of fresh air. How long has it been since someone stood up in the "church" environment and said, "Yes, I struggle with this, but God is giving me grace to walk with Him and not give in to sin?" How refreshing is that? We, in the church, have a real tendency to want to hide or mask our problems. We get together every Sunday in church, and it should be a time of loving and grace and healing of the body of Christ, but we're too ashamed to admit we even struggle with something to go forward and pray. As I watched Kirk's DVD for the first time last night, when he had been singing, and then he, himself, knelt at that altar, I slid from my chair, and on to my knees, right there in my living room. None of us is perfect. What I struggle with may be different than what you struggle with, but we're both children of God, and recipients of His Grace, and He is standing there with out-stretched arms, wanting to help us through whatever we struggle with, and we don't respond so often. The church needs to hear us loudly say "AMEN!" to a man who is willing to stand in honesty and light and say "I struggle, but I'm determined to walk with God and not give in to that sin." Praise God! It's what we ALL should be saying. The "it", i.e. the thing we struggle with doesn't matter. It's the process that counts. It's the turning to God, and accepting His Grace that counts.
Man, I've about preached myself happy here. I don't mean to go on, but, let me say one more time.... Kirk Talley, I love you as my brother in the Lord, and I am so proud of you I don't have words to express it. Well Glory!!!!!
Blessings,
Bob

CommentsI've been to hundreds of concerts in my life, but I don't remember most of them. I can't say that about the Maryville concert tonight. This will be one of those rare moments that I will cherish forever. The spirit in the chapel was one of love, forgiveness, and grace. Each and every one who attended tonight could have stood on that stage and told of a time of falling off the path of righteousness. Tonight was about a loving, merciful God who gives us second chances. I was honored to be a part of such a special evening. Thank you, Kirk, for not giving up, and for letting us love you. I admire your courage, and am thankful that you won't let the enemy steal your testimony. I am proud of you, and I will continue to pray for you. Love you.

CommentsWell, I just got my long awaited copy and I gotta tell ya I was a bit disappointed. Certainly not with the DVD itself, but the reviews that were given. Amazing, WOW, and awesome just didn’t cut it. So I went online to the Webster dictionary thesaurus and found the word. The word is awful………. Or, full of awe. Meaning “the rapt attention and deep emotion caused by the sight of something extraordinary.” I laughed I tapped my foot and I even “tried” to sing along. I can’t believe that after 3 times of hearing your testimony, it still brings me to tears. I just ach every time you talk about wanting to die. Please tell your friends who took you in “Thank you” for me. You have been such a blessing to me, and many others for that matter. Had it not been for them, who knows where you would be.
Take care, and God bless.

CommentsI would like to respond to Dee Chapman's comments. Have you been to one of Kirk's services in the last year? Well, I have. I call it a service because that's what it is. It is more than a concert, it is a worship service. Or have you listened to his testimony? I worked with him on his latest project, it was not just a recording session but a church service. People were at the alter praying before we were finished. You could really feel the Holy Spirit moving in that place. There are many hurting people with all kinds of difficulities in this world, Kirk is reaching them with his testimony. (which is hope and understanding.) He is not trying to be a "Hero" as you stated, but doing what God leads him to do....I suggest you order the CD and DVD, maybe this will change your opinion about him. I know that Kirk does not need me to speak for him, but I needed to reply to you. By the way, if you order the CD, you will get his testimony FREE

CommentsKirk, I just want to say Bravo!! The GQ article was well written. I hope that you can find peace now, no more trying to keep the secret, I'm sorry that this is how people had to find out. But does it really matter what people think? God loves all his children. You are a very special person witha big heart for God. You have helped me understand so much about myself, I wish people could understand how much you have helped me understand that God loves me Gay or not. "For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Not just the gay's.

CommentsKirk! Gosh, I love you! And as the song says, “God prepared me, for such a time as this”.
This is you journey, my friend, yours and God’s. Very few people have really shared it with you because of the dynamic of being constantly in a “public light”. But, there are a few of us who really have. This isn’t a struggle, it’s a full on Physical war. And you are the prize. It’s not a spiritual war, its physical. There is a great difference. I pity the poor Christians that think so inside the box as to think this area of life can be addressed spiritually. It has nothing to do with your salvation, or your walk with Christ. If anything this open awareness will strengthen your relationship with God. I am sure that you are praying more than ever before, know that the answer is on the way.
I work for the Pentagon as the WorkFlow and Training Manager for the United States Navy, thankfully out of San Diego. I believe doing my best at work helps secure the freedoms that we all share. As a Veteran, I have served now for a total of 24 years. As a Christian it is my responsibility to present myself in all honesty and truthfulness. I have to understand all processes, and methodologies which should reflect in how I speak, and articulate what needs to be said. The words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart have to be clear, direct, and accurate. I constantly watch the details as over 700 projects are being developed, creating cutting edge technology and the best defense possible. I take pride in my job, I take pride in my life, and I take pride in my relationship with my God, and with the relationships God has entrusted me with.
As for my spiritual journey, I was in church 9 months before I was born. You can’t be a Baptist and a Graham without the eyes of the world watching you, or so it seams. I asked Christ into my heart and life at the age of 10.
With childlike faith I learned that I had to grow with my salvation as the meaning and the message of that salvation evolved for me through the years. I was the first in my family of over 70 pastors and full time Christian leaders to break a closet door wide open. I think I hurt myself on the way out that day. But I quickly healed and recovered. That was a tough day. The next year was amazingly honest, open, and hard more on those around me not willing ready or able to deal with the truth than it was on me.. Before that I had never realized just how close God could be. I learned immediately that the opposite of LOVE was not hate, but it was FEAR. I had plenty of moments when Satan interjected fear into my life, into making me doubt I was making the right decision, and then he played the trump card and wrecked havoc with every relationship I held dear.
But I stayed in constant prayer, and that same anointing came on my life and has come on every human being that has ever found themselves in the position and turned to God for guidance.
As I learn to trust you and the readers here, I will share an exciting journey with you. I don’t tolerate hate, and would highly suggest that guidelines are established for those who have forgotten what good Christian conduct used to be about.

Comments saw the photo of a Church sign on your website, nothing like re-airing your laundry, is there? Didn’t they have enough letters to write “KIRK TALLEY- WHO’S PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE is ALL UNDER THE BLOOD!” and leave it alone.
Society as a whole and in this case, mainstream Christians believe what they want to believe, don’t they! ALRIGHTY THEN! Anyone who believes sexual orientation can be changed or healed probably needs to stick to a subject they actually know something about. They will sound much more intelligent!
Kirk, you have opened up a dialogue among people that is going to call all of us to stretch and grow. Thank you. You are going to come to terms with things on this new level you have achieved, and then there will be another level, and another. That’s just how God works. By the time you reach your next level of awareness, you will leave many bottom dwellers on the bottom. Jesus said, the poor will always be with us, think about it. He wasn’t talking about financial poverty. He was talking about a state of mind. It may be soon, it may be ten years down the road, but you are about to learn what freedom in Christ is all about. But this growth is a choice for you. You can choose to grow or to remain where you are. I have a feeling that the latter will not even be an option. Or, you can continue to define this as a “struggle” and live out the rest of your life in physical frustration, which by the way, Satan wants to turn into a spiritual life long battle. As many go through these same issues, you have a choice, to go through them or go around them. It is much easier going around them, and gaining the perspective from your Fathers point of view. .
Thank God you had friends to stand by and stop you before you reached a physical death. You certainly went to deaths door, emotionally, mentally, and psychologically. I think I hear Jesus at the tomb saying “Kirk, come fourth!” This will be a lifelong process for you, regardless of how you approach it. One day you will look back and be thankful for this journey. In and through it you will gain unimaginable insight into how God really operates. Choose to really LIVE, Christ said he came to give you not only life but life more abundantly. Hold him to it!

CommentsThank you for being in the middle! That is where I have been on this
issue my entire life. My brother was gay. He didn't come out to me
until we were in our 20's. He came out because he had volunteered for
the Orange County AIDS society and had a buddy to help. I didn't know
this, and knew the young man had AIDS. My mind raced to, he must be my
brother's lover and oh I know my brother is dying. He came out to me
and said he knew he was different from the time he was 7 or 8 years
old. He said he knew he was different and had hated me for it. Me
being the good two shoes. We were raised in a strong wonderful
christian home. My brother was very intelligent, near genius, and
often questioned sunday school teachers on theology, whose answer was
maybe you're a heretic!
The reason I feel compelled to write is you are giving hope to others
like you. How can one denounce their sexuality? My brother used to
ask me......"do you honestly think I would choose this?" Our dad is a
psychologist and stands somewhere in the middle too. He feels there
are genetic and environmental factors. If there are genetic factors,
then did God create it? Just an aside, I've wondered if the far right
will change their minds on abortion if they find a genetic link! ha!
(no, I am not pro-abortion)
My frustrations with the church can really make me angry. One can be
divorcing and still preach from the pulpit. Jesus never said a word
about homosexuality, but he did about divorce. I disagree with the
church thinking this sin is the worst. Again, my example of divorce.
My niece was a crack addict and had a pregnancy at 17. She in my
opinion never felt part of the real family as both parents remarried
and had new families. Why should that be less of a sin then
homosexuality? I am also studying David this summer. I refuse to
believe that David and Jonathan had a homosexual relationship. However
in my own marriage, (I call my husband a metrosexual) I know that
there are relationships with men in his life that meet needs I can not,
and I don't mean sexually. I've jokingly called some of them the other
woman! Some of my girlfriends meet emotional needs that my husband
does not.
The church is for sinners. I feel if he had been
embraced for who he was maybe he would still be fighting like you. I
agreed with my brother that you're lot in life is harder than most.
There is a genetic tendency toward alcoholism for example. I fight
food addictions. I have joined weigh down, overeaters annonymous,
lindora etc. I have spiritualized this battle......every bite is now a
sin. Wish I'd never done that! I'm currently successful and
maintaining a healthy weight but have lost the same 40 pounds 4 times!
Whys is the sin of gluttony any different than any other sin.

CommentsI have been in gospel music for over 40 years and I just have to tell you that I am appalled at people like you who "profess" to be a Christian and yet can't stand upon the word of God. Being homosexual is something the Bible teaches us is wrong and not something to be proud of. If it is a situation you just can't find any resolution - I feel gospel music and ministry should not be where you find yourself. You need to take a stand - either you are gay or you're not. Either get on the fence or get off - don't sit in the middle and still portray yourself as a gospel singer - ministering to others. Ministry is about spreading God's word - being a servant of God and living as close to God as possible. Being a homosexual is not of God - it is wrong and if you know the Bible you have to agree. Please resolve your issues and face the facts - don't mislead yourself or others. Don't be a hero to other young men who are struggling with these same issues. Be a man and step up to the place - tell the truth and either serve God as He has commanded us or be a homosexual and go against what God teaches us is right - you can't have both !!!

CommentsLynn said: "Jesus didn't hang out with just the "good" church folk. He built his ministry with people who were poor, diseased, and sinners. He made friends with hookers and thieves. And yes, He probably made friends with homosexuals too." Maybe He did, but He never told them, "Oh, it's ok. You just go ahead and keep on sinning, you poor, poor thing!" No, He said, as He said to the woman caught in adultery, "Go and sin no more." As for judging, people take that verse about "Judge not, lest ye be judged," out of context all the time and I get tired of hearing it. Yes, we are to judge. We are to judge between right and wrong and to tell people that they are doing wrong. What we are not to do is to condemn them. Condemning someone to hell is not our job. In other words, we are not to give up on them, but keep speaking the truth in love, even if it hurts. I'd rather have someone hurt for a little while here on earth than to have them hurt for eternity in hell. Now, even if this post does not get posted, at least I can say that I had my say. Whether anyone heeded or not is up to them.

CommentsKirk,
While traveling on business this week, I picked up a copy of GQ and read the article about your life. I was drawn to it because I too grew up in a Christian home, and have had same sex attraction my whole life. I have struggled with the conflict that it causes, and it has had an impact on every aspect of my life. I would love the opportunity to talk to you more about this. I have been married for 25 years, and about five years ago, told my wife about my attraction to men. It almost destroyed my marriage, but we are working on re-building it now. Reading about your life has given me hope that there is a way to live my life with a proper focus, and deal with the desires appropriately. Thanks for your inspiration.

CommentsHi Kirk,
I just finished listening to your testimony and song, "Intimacy with Jesus". Your testimony is powerful. Jesus has touched you in a special way. Thank you for sharing it. We"Christians" are many times too judgmental. It pains me to think the people we are casting aside because of our judgmental attitude. We all need grace everyday. I pray for you and your family as you deal with your mother's illness. I know how painful it is. My mother had a Alzheimer's like illness for 5 years before she died. I enjoy the Krew letters. I am looking forward to seeing you December 8th at Richards Farm. Helen

CommentsI just read Happy's comment and all the reaction to it.
Happy, I'd like to invite you to Toronto. Here, we not only have an active gay community, but we have a very active GAY CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY! Yes, Christians who are gay. This may shock you. This may disgust you. And if it does, then I'm afraid I can only feel sorry for you. Our gay Christian community is generous, loving, and non-judgemental. They participate in regular worship in all denominations. They are active in social justice. An "open" church, as they are called, welcomes everyone who walks in the doors. Everyone is equally loved and respected.
Jesus didn't hang out with just the "good" church folk. He built his ministry with people who were poor, diseased, and sinners. He made friends with hookers and thieves. And yes, He probably made friends with homosexuals too.
Isn't He our model? Shouldn't we follow His lead?
Kirk, I don't care if you're gay or straight or somewhere inbetween. You're a child of God and made in His image. That's all we need to be worthy of His love, and by His own commandment, that's all we need to "love your neighbour as yourself". I love you, Kirk. You're a blessing.
Happy, I pray that your heart may be opened. Perhaps there is judging to be done, but if so, it's not our job. Our job is to love God and love eachother. Happy, I love you and I'm praying for you.
God bless.

CommentsHi Kirk,
Just wanted to tell you I just finished reading the article in GQ and I was so touched by your story. You are a walking testimony of God's grace. We are all sinners and we all struggle with different temptations. It so sad to see other "Christians" act as if their sins are more forgivable than others. The Bible does not list the forgivable sins and the unforgivable sins. I don't understand how people can so easily judge you when you make it clear that your first priority is your walk with God. I believe that one day you will be rewarded for your service and that the lives you touch will be your reward while you're here on earth. Remember for every 1 negative comments there's 9 positive that cancel it out. Only God knows a person's heart and those who judge are sinners themselves and they may want to think about that! God Bless you and the work you do. And remember... God plus one is always the majority :)

CommentsA bit slow in getting this to you, but been so busy with life. Last Thursday had the privilege of being in Birmingham, Alabama to see you in concert. The night was great! The songs were so inspirational and the people seemed to be so blessed. I certainly was. You sang a song that I had never heard before, HONESTLY. Sometimes we do not feel like doing what we are suppose to, but that is when we need to do it the most. Bet you have felt that way before. It was the first time to see you in the great state of Alabama and hope to see you again! May God continue to bless your ministry in song and testimony. Oh yeah, you can forevermore whistle!

CommentsKirk, It is almost 3:30 and I just finished watching the LIVE project. WOW!! What a joy it was to see you just singing your heart out What a blessing you are. I listened to the LIVE CD all the way back home - got through it almost twice and then I was just going to watch a couple of songs on the DVD tonight, but of course when I started to watch, I could not stop. The love and spirit that was so evident at the taping is just as real on the video. Again, I must say the duet with Allison Durham-Speer is the most incredible duet I have ever heard. I would encourage everyone to get this project. It is so much more than a concert. It is a worship experience.
Kirk, thank you for being you, the same in God's eyes as everyone that has asked Jesus to be their Savior - a sinner saved by grace. You are such an encouragement to me and so many others. I pray for you everyday and I love you and appreciate you more than you will ever know.

Comments''Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgerous, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the potential that is within us. It is not in some of us: it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others"...........................Thats my favorite quote by the poet Marianne Williamson and I wanted to share it with you Kirk and everyone else that reads these posts. hey there, kirk. i just read your testimony in gq magazine and i just wanted to say how much it blessed and encouraged me. I am a youth pastor and have been in ministry for about 13 years now and know all the harsh judgments christians are prone to throw with such carelessness. I have been amazed over the years at the sinfulness of those whom are considered to be the holiest of them all in the church. I can't help but read the gospels and realize that Christ was speaking exactly to those of us in the church (as = today's modern day pharisees). But to a certain unfortunate degree, as your testimony states, we are all sinners and struggle with one thing or another and Christ came to die for those people as well. However, as I was reading your story, I was moved to the point of tears that you are truly fighting the good fight. I know that it is extremely difficult to walk the path our Lord has placed us on, but be encouraged and know that there are those of us who are praying for you - for God's grace, mercy, love, compassion and perseverance to be abundant in your life! You are the living example of what a true believer is; one who struggles and yet is that much more accepting of God's wonderful grace. May your honesty and struggles be an encouragement to us all who continue to struggle in our walks as well. many blessings to you!

I have seen you a couple a times and always enjoyed your concerts.
I thought the article in GQ magazine was very good. You will reach out to a lot of christians who are gay. It is too bad that so many christians are so judgmental.
I am sorry that you have been through so much. I believe God is using you in a place that honesty is needed on this subject.
I wish you well.
I can totally relate to the alienation you have been subject too as a christian.
It sadens me that so many people believe they are christlike, when in fact they are so far from it.

CommentsKirk-Just a note to tell you how much we enjoyed seeing and hearing you at the concert in Birmingham on August 11th! You were truly in rare form. It was well worth the round trip of 1044 miles JUST to see YOU and hear YOU sing your new songs and some great old songs. You set the atmosphere with your first song, I'VE COME HERE TO TELL YOU THAT THE LORD IS GOOD. The worship service continued as you sang LORD, I WORHIP YOU, SERENADED BY ANGELS, NO OTHER WORD FOR GRACE, I KNOW A MAN WHO CAN, MAGNIFY HIM, and closing with INTIMACY WITH JESUS. I know these are only a few of the songs you sang, but each of them blessed those of us who were there. God is continuing to bless you as you let Him use you. NO ONE is worthy of His Grace and Love and Mercy, but His message in your songs tells us that we can have it just by asking for forgiveness of our sins. May we all "turn our eyes upon Jesus, and look full in His wonderful face. Then the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His Glory and Grace." God loves you Kirk Talley, and so do we.

CommentsHello,
Until I read the article about your struggles in GQ yesterday, I had never heard of you. I as well deal with same sex attraction and was raised in a very conservative religious environment, and still consider myself religious. I have so much respect for your honesty with your struggles, and consider myself blessed to have come accross your story. I am a successful twenty four year old, who has begun to realize these feeling will likely never pass. You have given me hope, and made me feel more comfortable knowing that there are other good people dealing with the same issues. I as well recognize it as a journey, and don't know where the road will take me. I do know that my God is one of complete love and comfort, and regardless of what may lie ahead in my jouney he will always love, forgive, and accept me. I'm not sure how to thank you, but thanks for being you, and inspiring me to not keep everything bottled up inside me. I look forward to attending a service next time you're in the Chicagoland area.
God Bless

Kirk, I am so sorry that some of the people who put you down for being truthful of your daily struggles call themselves Christians When I and my three girls were left behind because my husband their father choice to leave us for another women the Christian people in the church that I went to for 31 yrs and thought I wanted to raise my girls in were the hardest people on me. I got more support from the unblievers than I did with the Christians I grew up with. The probably with so many people that grow up in the church, feel they have the right to judge everyone else sin and struggles before looking at the sin in their own life. You see if we look at ourselves like you did it makes for a change. So many pew fillers on Sunday morning think they have done the good deed for the week and can go back to Monday morning life style. None of us ask for earthly problems we all would have like to live a life with out pain and suffering. But if everyday was that way how would we grow closer to Christ. When you read the Bible Christ spent many lonely days doing the work God sent him for. He did NOT judge he loved. SO Kirk GOD is not finished with you yet. Just keep your eyes on CHRIST. If you didn't have these struggles why would you want to keep your eyes on Christ? everything would be perfect. the need wouldn't be there. God has a plan for you and your life we have always loved you and will continue to Love You. I am a firm believer to the love the sinner not the sin.
I feel sorry for your sister that she has not come to terms with you because she is losing more and more everyday of her happiness and the true love of Christ by staying away from her brother. I pray that your brother. GOD will bless his people who are true to him through and through.
Praying for you!

CommentsDear Kirk,
I just wanted to write to tell you how much I was blessed at your Birmingham concert. After going through the first week back at school I didn't think I could put one foot in front of the other (or on the gas pedal) to do another thing. But I'm so glad I did! Your sincerity and joy in the Lord was and remains so inspiring. I have since been blessed even more with your latest CD and DVD. I'm so thankful you are back to writing more of your own songs. Somehow, they speak to us all and reach us when other songs just entertain. You must really be successful as a Soldier of the Cross or the devil wouldn't bother trying to attack your emotional strength and witness. God bless, strengthen, and keep you in His love. You're constantly in my prayers.

You don't know me, but my family knew yours. I know what kind of home you grew up in because I grew up in the same kind. I have a burden for the way christians have become, it is as if we have forgotten the meaning of 'christain'- The original meaning was to be LIKE CHRIST which is love, forgiveness... WHAT HAPPENED

CommentsKirk,
I was truly blessed by being at your concert tonight in Goshen, IN. You all did a fantastic job of using your talents for the Lord.
I was the lady on the front row in a red blouse, and I introduced myself to you. Not that you probably paid any attention to the aforementioned details.
I am a walkin, talkin miracle, as God has saved me in 2 ways, spiritually and physically, when I was almost killed 13 years in a car accident. God has been very good and brought me a long way in those 13 years.
Again, I am grateful to have been at the concert tonight, and witness your talents.

CommentsMr. Talley,
I have to just second what MOST people are writing here. I picked up my husband's GQ magazine and was intrigued by the headline for your article. My first thought was, Please, God, don't let them burn this man alive." My second was, "AND don't let them paint conservative Christians in that the "crazy" light. " Your testimony did neither. I can't say it as well as many have here, but you told the secular public about the CHOICE you have. No excuses, just that you are a sinner and you are praying every day to be forgiven (and released) from sin. Heck, we are ALL sinners, and no one sin is worse than another's in our Father's eyes. I am proud of you and proud of the work that you have done. I look forward to meeting you when our time here on earth is through. Until then, Onward Christian Soldier!!
God Bless.

CommentsKIRK,
I HAD READ YOU INTERVIEW IN GQ AND I UNDERSTAND FIRST HAND WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. MY MOTHER HAD TOLD ME OF YOUR STORY MANY MONTHS AGO AS SHE IS A HUGE FAN OF YOURS, WHENEVER SHE SEES YOU SHE TALKS TO YOU AND SAYS YOU ARE "MOST WONDERFUL PERSON". WE ARE ALL HERE FOR A REASON AND SOMETIMES IT TAKES A HUGE FALL TO FIND OUT WHY. I AM A 26 YEAR OLD GAY MAN, MY PARENTS LOVE ME, I LOVE ME, JESUS LOVES ME, AND I HAVE FRIENDS AND HEALTH AND HAPPINESS...NONE OF GOD'S CREATURES DESERVES TO BE HATED. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE KIND OF HATE, SHAME,AND PAIN THAT YOU HAVE AND IT IS THE WORST. IT MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE NOTHING. I FEEL I DID NOT MAKE THIS CHOICE. IT WAS NOT A CHOICE. I LOVE THE LORD AND I LOVE MY LIFE. TO EVERYONE WHO CANNOT HELP BUT BE HATEFUL TO YOU..JUST LOVE THEM. THEY WILL HAVE TO ANSWER FOR WHAT THEY DO..JUST LIKE THE REST OF US.

Comments Well, a short note to say I finally ordered my CD, DVD, am waiting for it now. Well, my friend and I were there when LIVE AT THE RIVER was recorded too! What an awesome, Holy Spirit filled
place to be on July 29th, 30th, River Of Life Church, myself, I could feel God's anointing upon you in both Services and on OTHER GUESTS TOO! Well, anointing was so Strong on Sunday A.M. upon me so much, God just put me out in the Spirit,
PTL. HE removed some heavy burdens, chains, shakles and baggage I had been carrying since a young girl YEARS AGO, Praise God for You, Your Testimony, Your Ministry for HIM TOO, I went to the people WHO had hurt me and 'FORGAVE them' told them I loved them in God's love and also as relatative's too, BEFORE
that Sunday A.M. July 30th. I couldn't hardly be around them very long AND I have been a Christian for over 20-yrs. too!
So, I for one love you, and Thank God for your Ministry, because God is Using YOU now AND HE will keep on through your Testimony, Music, and Ministry too. God will keep on giving YOU that sweet peace and supplying ALL your needs Everyday to. (Phil: 4:13 and 19th.)

CommentsHi Kirk! I still haven't been the same since i saw you at Faith Baptist Church in Trinity NC. I hadn't been to church in over ten years, now I am going to diffenent ones and exploring so to speak looking for a church home. In one word, you gave me courage...thanks again. Another thing that I do now is log on to your website each morning to read the comment post because I love the open lines of communication and the diffenet thoughts and ideas. No matter how "touchy" the subject may be it's always better to shine light on it rather then tuck it in the back hoping that it will go away. With this subject especially, we know thats not the truth. Also, the opinions may always differ but with open communication at least it doesn't seem so distant and cold...these thoughts and feelings are people with hearts and minds, no matter what side of the fence you are on.No pun intended there! But i must say, i was disturbed by the post from happy...whats the deal happy?? Your glasshouse must be sound proof as well as stone proof. No matter what lines you are reading between i think you have missed the real message. WE are all imperfect, we all have issues. Some of us have more issues then a magazine rack. And for you to tell someone, anyone, especially a person that is making postive changes in the world for himself as well as countless others, that they are hateful. Well, in a nutshell, I think thats alittle like the pot calling the kettle black. Your negative energy brings nothing to the table and if you can't be part of the solution..please don't be part of the problem. Kirk, playing small will do the world no service that all. To scrink so that someone else doesn't feel insecure around you only perpetuates the problem. So BE BIG, talk and sing anywhere and everywhere you get the chance...you never know who is listening. And happy....if you're still reading between those lines make sure your heart is on the right page.

CommentsKirk,
I went out and bought the GQ magazine specifically to read about the article you mentioned in your newsletter. I shared it with several family members, all of whom have followed your career since the Cathedral days and have loved your music, ministry, and incrediable talent for writing songs that speak to our hearts.
I thought the article was fair and well written. The author did a great job in presenting the story. I just wonder if Charisma or other Christian magazines would have been as fair since so many have turned their back to your music and concerts. Shame on them by the way! That's not the Christian belief I was raised up to believe in.
You were brave to be as honest and forthright in the interview, just as you were in seeking counsel among Christian pastors. I commend you for that and I know the Lord will continue to bless you and in turn us with your beautiful music!
Keep doing what you are doing! Keep the faith and don't stop sharing your testimony. It's a valuable lesson for all of us to learn in dealing with issues that we don't fully understand or particularly agree with.
May God continue to bless you Kirk. You are in my prayers.
I ordered your DVD and CD today and can't wait to receive it! As a suggestion, you might want to clarify on your store site if the DVD comes with a CD to play in the car. I didn't know so I orderd both just to be safe.
Blessings,

CommentsWhen I read the GQ article, it struck me that you've given God more than a room in your heart. You're too humble to let me blow up your head, and I wouldn't try to. But I want to encourage you and tell you that there's a wondrous, heavenly light shining out from your windows, declaring into the darkness a divine Healer living inside. So you struggle with homosexual feelings; big deal. He doesn't call the perfect, He calls the pliable. Every house needs to have its gutters cleaned and its shutters repainted. And sometimes, you've just got to replace the old lumpy sofa. We're all dealing with something, and your thorn in the flesh isn't any less forgivable than mine or anyone else's. No less redeemable. No less usable. And I believe, from all I've ever seen or heard from your own lips or your own pen, that you and God are comfortably coexisting in that temple of yours. I believe God owns enough of the space that He will hold sway over you--even in this little house fire you're experiencing now, the useless things will burn away and the useful things will remain and declare the glory of the One living inside.
So I love that you ended up being named Kirk. Your very name is a reminder to you, that you're a church, a temple of the Lord; you are the place where God dwells. His presence is in you and on you. Even on a dark night when you feel you've wandered away, God has those little driveway lights shining the way to the front doors of Home. So do as David did, and seek Him there. Seek the evidence of the Lord in your life, in your being, in your person. You'll find Him, and you'll rejoice. In time, this homosexual stuff will be such old news, it will be a photograph on the mantle that serves as a reminder of the distance God has brought you... but "If you make the Lord Most High your dwelling--even the Lord Who is my refuge--then no harm will befall you, and no disaster will come near your tent" (Psalm 91:9-10, The Message).
You're going to be all right, Kirk Talley. Already, the light in your windows has begun drawing others to the place where God dwells, and they're finding their home in Him, too. So don't worry about the neighbors, don't worry about the Pharisees. Just seek the Lord in His temple. Then you can "gaze upon the beauty of the Lord" as His life in you is reflected through your own gifts and God-spun relationships. Isn't that cool?
I called my mother this morning and told her about the GQ article. She said, "You have to write a letter to that man, Heather. You've just got to." I said, "I know, Mom. I've already been thinking about it." Here at the end of my epistle, I still don't know what it was I wanted to say to you--except that God is good, and He Who began a good work in you, will complete it. This I know. My mother said to tell you there are people in the world who love and support you, and rejoice with you in God's triumph. She said to tell you you're not alone. She's right.

CommentsI've never heard of you before, because I'm not really a big fan of
southern gospel music, but I am a Christian and I just wanted to offer
some encouragement to you. I just read the article in GQ and it makes me
really sad that so many people who say that they Love The Lord could be
so hateful and cruel. God loves all of us, no matter what.
the Bible says that all sin is equal in the eyes of God, so I don't
believe for a second that you are any less beautiful in the eyes of God
than any typical gossiping church lady. I hope that you continue to stay
strong, and to give your testimony because I'm sure that there are many
people who have similar struggles in there life, and only good can come
from your honesty. I pray that God Blesses you in every area of your
life, and that He would provide you with fulfilling and Godly
relationships. I really admire your courage, thank you for being an
awesome Man Of God.

CommentsI logged on to the website to check out the schedule, decided to take a look at the guestbook and couldn't believe my eyes. A certain post from earlier today (8/9) just blew me away. It is unbelievable that someone could be so hateful that they would actually take the time to sit and put their hatred into typed words, have time to re-read it, contemplate it and still send it. I have responded to things verbally before and, afterward, wished I could take my words back and have had to ask for forgiveness but, generally, by responding in letter form, people take the time to think about what they are expressing and how they are expressing it and then attempt to employ a certain amount of tact and consideration but that doesn't appear to have happened in this case. That post was truly shameful!
I have attended 4 or 5 of your services in the past year, including your live recording, and there is absolutely no doubt that the Lord is present and using you to do his work. In any contact I have had with you, whether in person or email, you have always been courteous and gracious and I have yet to experience a hint of hatefulness from you. In my opinion, refusing to be a human doormat is not hateful, selfish or hard-hearted and is certainly not a sin. I知 so glad to know that you recognize those people that Satan is using to try to tear you down and that you respect yourself enough that you do not let them affect you to the degree that you give up. I'll sure it has to affect you because you are human but I'll also sure you understand that there are a lot of awesome people that are truly grateful for your ministry and that support you 100%. God is surely proud of you for all that you must put up with.
I'm sorry but I'm having a real anger issue with that post so I'm going to have to go spend some quiet time with the Lord and get an attitude adjustment. My suggestion to the author of that post would be to do the same.

CommentsHey Kirk,
You know I started reading the comments in your guest book on a regular basis so I could praise the Lord with you for what he has done and is doing in the lives of your audiance. Sometimes I laugh and sometimes I cry but I have to tell you the latest entry from Happy has shocked me. I remembered her name from previous post so I went back and read her comments in January. What a 360 she did in her opinion of you. My guess is you offended her in some way and now she is lashing out at you. Anyway, keep up the good work! We love you man.

Wow Kirk,
Surely variety is the spice of life. We have a varied group of ideas, thoughts, suggestions, critics and supporters seen on this page. I suppose that most of us mean well and some are just mean, but when it all comes down to the final page and the ending word - it's what you know in your heart. I have known you for years and yes you are one of the craziest people I've ever met, and you can make people laugh and cry with stories of songs that come to life when you sing them. But that's not what impresses me, it's the fact that God still moves in the lives of people and moves their hearts to action, by allowing you to minister in song to them. Maybe the past year or so hasn't been about you at all Kirk, but about what God can do, and who God can use. Thanks for singing again, sharing again and letting God use you to touch the hearts of ordianry people, who much like those of us who have written to you, need to look at where God brought us from. I'm glad the Lord wasn't looking for perfection when he found me, or I would have surely been passed up on the spot.
I was anything but special, but these 34 years of Christian life have taught me a lot - it's never easy, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. And the stones that I once would have thrown are lying right where they belong - on the side of the road. God bless you Kirk and God bless your music.

CommentsIt's been a while since I've written, but tonight I feel compelled to answer Happy.
Happy, there are those who read the Word and use it to judge and condemn others and there are those who read the Word and use it as a guide for their own lives. There are those who love the sinner and hate the sinner's sin and there are those who love the sinner and hate their own sin. There are those who are unhappy and there are those who are happy. I continue to believe Kirk is happy, and is being used by the Lord.

CommentsWith laughter and with frustration I just read over the comment of the person named, "Happy". I can't say that she is named wrong, that was her parent's job. It is obvious that she comments without full knowledge of what she speaks about. That aspect is wrong. Admittedly, the article had never been read. Yet, her opinions have been formed. Kirk, she said, not me, that you were hateful. Well, I say you are certainly patient. You have to be a people person to put up with the "happy" judges. Anyone that judgemental has to be anything but happy. Hang in there Kirk, not all of us have gavels. There is only One!

i read about you in GQ magazine....i know its hard but its not a choice...small minded people dont understand that no one would choose such a difficult life purposely....gay people are just as diverse as straight people...we arent all flamboyant...some of us have families, are just as masculine as the next guy...some what are flamboyant....my point is "dont judge" and i dont mean you kirk.....but all the other people that find it their right to pass judgement... there are many gays that do endless charity work for not only AIDS patients, but the homeless, and elderly etc... i find it really sad that some people have to repress who they are to make "society" happy.....many teens commit suicide because they are shunned by there families.... these people should open their minds and their hearts and realize that God loves us all.....and also that LOVE is LOVE........ read your bible the way it really is...about Gods love...and dont use it as a weapon to put down others you dont understand......kirk, stay strong and know that there are others that understand....and i dont mean the shame of being gay, but the shame that there are people that are unfortunately to close minded to accept everyone.....

CommentsI haven't read the GQ article, and while I believe God's hand was surely upon you during this event(He's involved in every aspect of our lives)I don't believe you were given special creedence. Personally, I don't anythbing about the other interview situation, but it was probably more linked to your perception as events had just unfolded. In one breath you say you had given no interview to a Christian publication(while a radio station is not a publication it could fall under this bracket)you must certainly set out to have done that. People who don't elevate you, in your eyes, must be scum. You haven't really changed'; it is not that difficult to read between the lines.
On a positive note, limiting the comments in your newsletter can certainly make it more direct. You can take whatever creative license you want as its yours, however, you most certainly will never have to be challenged for erroneous viewpoints. I agree with Ray in his viewpoint because God holds this same viewpoint. I am saddened you cling to the old way(I can read between the lines). The article must have been a way to reiterate your position and support the gay agenda. I am sure you would never admit this. If you believe you may live such a life and inherit the Kingdom, you are sorely misled.
In retrospect, like many, I see you for what you are: a sad, frightened, and confused individual
who is selfish and deceitful, hardhearted, and a queer with no intention of changing. I never thought I'd find myself using such a mean term, but that's what you have aspired too. I suppose I can understand that term since such a lifestyle is indeed queer and veers from the reality of God's truth. It may seem ironic as I have friends who struggle with this(but I don't mean the term as derogatory) rather as an explanation of the above.
No matter how many articles you aspire to write, etc... that receive the approval of the masses, it will not grant or secure you the peace of the Lord. You are a hateful man, Kirk Talley.

In my car during drive time I must say it was a church service. As a pastor I am going to strongly encourage my congregation to listen to that on their way to services. They will want to continue having church! It is so good to have this new project available. Every song has a message of God's grace and mercy. Thanks for sharing with us the story and the songs! I am so glad you are still out there singing and ministering. As soon as you are near enough, I plan to attend one of your concerts. Of course I've been a fan for several years.
You are dealing with, in your personal life, what I dealt with a long time ago. I no longer care if other Christians judge me. (It's funny, the world doesn't judge me about it.) I know that I am saved. As you said; what's important is focusing on Christ; turning our eyes upon Jesus; serving him with all sincerity. He will never turn his eyes from us.

CommentsI was really impressed with the GQ atricle. People that deal with sexual temptation problem same sex or not seem to be viewed as perverted or strange. When they seek help, people either don't understand or are very judgemental. When we allow God to shed his light on our issues, we step out of the dark and into his care. I believe that sometimes it takes really bad events to get us to trust him with every area of our lives. We pray for him to take our problems away, but we must remember that sometimes we have to go through the problem in order to be used of God.
I really believe that you are committed to bringing glory to God. Hold your head up and look to God for all comfort. Man will let us down, but God is faithful and understands

I still love your music, still like you as a person, think no less of you now than I did before the news broke, actually because of the way you have handled it, I like you even better! I will still buy your music, still come hear you sing, still support you. I don't judge people on their sexuality, or their hair color or their style of dress. I listen to musice cause it speaks to my heart and it sounds good. Thats why I like you! I told her that I was sure you would have rather not been through all the hell you have been through, just to be in there. The think I find amazing is the fact that their magazine is only TWELVE dollars a year for subscription. It's a thick magazine, everything is color, it looks great. for TWELVE dollars a year. Singing News is TWENTY I think, and they won't even print your name! I think I will subscribe to GQ just to say THANK YOU to them!

Ray, Please enlight all of us what GOD says Kirk is to be. Remember Jesus died
for all sins or non at all. I do read in John 8:7 where Jesus said "He that is
without sin among you , let him first cast a stone at her". Then in Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Ray if you are going to
"cast stones I think you are out of the Book. I would obey what Jesus said than
to try to cast stones. Remember Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt
love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all
thy mind. This si the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto
it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as tyself. On these tow commandments hag all
the law and the prophets. Ray how do you treat yourself

CommentsI got your new CD today
in the mail and I LOVE IT!!!! It's terrific! Love the new songs. So. . . . . . .
. .. I called my local radio station and asked the DJ if they would consider
playing you again. His response was "Is he healed"? I had to laugh out loud. I
asked him if he was healed from being stupid! I will keep calling and requesting
your music, and if they don't start playing you again, I will start writing
letters to the advertisers and explain why I won't do business with them. Maybe
they will ask the station to include you on the playlist if they see themselves
losing my business.

Kirk - My eyes were exhausted from reading all the wonderful praise remarks
mainly from lay people, but also a few from what I would consider discerning
clerics!! So many identify with you. Hmmmm, and you thought you were all alone
in this battle!!! I cried with compassion when I read the stories of those
people, one even considering suicide over loneliness and despair. Man, what a
DIRECT signal from our Creator that you have a ministry!! What an example of
that old cliche' God doesn't call the prepared, he prepares the called! GOD
BLESS you in your boldness and march forward on the path HE will direct!!!!!!

Kirk, When I first heard of your struggle, I had a choice to make. One to
criticize and past judgement on you, or to pray each day and ask that the Lord
by His grace and the Word of God enable you to overcome your "besetting sin." I
chose to pray for you. It has been well over a year since I started praying for
you on a daily basis. This is the first time I been to your website and rejoice
to know of your continual growth in the Lord and victory over your struggle.

Kirk, Thank you soo much for telling the Krew Members about the article in GQ. I
too, read the article and wondered why a secular magazine? However I felt like
she did almost a word for word, as I have heard your Testimony several times. I
felt she honored God and made no snide remarks about religion, or your Faith. I
wanted to ask so many question that you answered and would never get the
opportunity to ask. As I flipped through the magazine and saw all the heartaches
of the people pictured and their stories with no answers or no place to go for
help. I thought what a beacon of light to a dark dying world, to let people know
God IS the Answer. I believe in you Kirk Talley, God has touched you and given
you a ministry along with all your talent. There are so many hurting people out
there. I truly did not realize. I have been challenged to pray for the lonely,
discouraged, depressed people who have circumstances that they humanly can't
change. I am proud of you for taking a stand and telling what the power of God
can do, if we let Him. You know all this....I just want to say one more
thing...the Picture didn't do you justice, you are much better looking! A Krew

Kirk, I just read the GQ article. If it is true, then you certainly are
deserving of forgiveness and restoration. My family and I run 4 Christian
bookstores in the Piedmont, NC area that specialize in distributing Southern
Gospel music. We were contrained to pull your music a while back, but will
discuss redisplaying it in light of this knowledge. I have general reservations
about the entire concept of professional gospel singing so I can't make any
comments or give any advice about means of supporting yourself financially, but
on a personal basis, if we ever were to meet, I would shake your hand, look you
in the eyes, and ask God's blessings on you from my heart. This is my first
visit to your site, and if I may offer a polite suggestion, it would probably
help your efforts a bit if your choice of background color on your site was not
quite so soft. Keep your eyes on Him, Dwight Gullion

Kirk, I received the new CD today... I could not wait to put it in the CD
player... I was NOT disappointed... Man, let me tell you it was wonderful and
full of praise to a great God and Savior! Your testimony was sent from God! I
needed it so bad today... When things are at their worst God is at His best!!
Kirk... I have been where you are... I have struggled with your struggle since I
was a little boy... though my "fall" wasn't as public as yours... I too suffered
a divorce and other losses for decisions I made... I still struggle... The
difference between us Kirk is that I acted on these desires and you did not...
For which you should be commended... Yeild not to temptation for yeilding is
sin... Kirk... Thank you for the GQ article... Thank you for the CD and
testimony... May God continue to bless you and your ministry... Keep on Keeping
on... You know sometimes it takes these kinds of things to hgappen in order for
us to get where God wants us... Thank you for allowing God to use you, even in
your darkest hour!

Kirk, I just wanted you to know that you have been on my heart today and I have
been in prayer for you. I have read post on other boards that have upset me and
then, blessed me. The Lord spoke to me in a still small voice this morning as I
was reading a thread and told me that I was to pray for you so, that is what I
have been doing. My family and I have followed your music since, your Cathedral
days and you have always been a blessing to us. May God continue to bless you

What transpired out of your interview with GQ could have only come from God. God
uses all sorts of instruments to reach His people, & those who don't know that
they have been called. I knew that God had some fantastic things in store for
you, & that He wasn't through with you by a long shot. I believe that your
career is just starting to take off. PTL for loving Christians who believe that
none of us are perfect, & that we're all sinners saved by grace. God doesn't
need perfect Christians, self-righteous Pharisees. If, I never get to meet you
(but I pray someday I will) I'm so thankful to be able to purchase your music.
You truly are my favorite tenor singer. You have a smile that says it all; true
love for The Lord. God Bless you Kirk! We love you In Christ. Sandi I'm proud to

Good ministry, my man! I enjoyed just about everybody, but you had a new depth
that was in a different 'place' than the others; Your "Intimacy" song was throne
room stuff. Thanks again for your vulnerability; The way you left the stage in
the dark while we worshiped, with the spotlight on the banner of Christ,
reminded me of Rich Mullins concerts.

Kirk, It is understood that directing comments to you is the primary purpose of
this outlet. Yet, fans and foes both read these postings. If you will permit,
this posting is for the fans. Foes can shut their eyes. Reviewing the comments
of recent days is encouraging! The words of the majority are indicative of
support and gratitude. It is good to have the voice and ministry of Kirk Talley
back! God has indeed been faithful! Earlier in the year you sang your songs and
told your story at the church I am privileged to serve. The service was
powerful. Later this year you will be back. An impacting message of God's mercy
and grace is needed to be heard in this hour. To the fans who are so supportive
with words of encouragement, may I challenge you to ACTION. As the old saying
declares, "Actions speak louder than words." Encourage your pastor to consider
the ministry of Kirk Talley. On this very page you read of the lives that are
being helped through Kirk's efforts. Saying that we are glad that he is back is
great! Showing him through providing opportunties to minister is greater!! Kirk
, may your schedule fill with opportunities to share the message of restoration
to the hurting and hope to the hopeless. Blessings upon you my friend

I for one don't find it necessary to hear Kirk tell me exactly where he stands.
All I need to do is read testimony after testimony of lives changed and people
giving their lives over or rededicating their lives to the Lord. People who
haven't been to church in years making their way back to the body of Christ
after reading or hearing his testimony. I think his "neutral stance" is helping
those who might normally feel judged or looked down on interested in what makes
him different. And we all know the differnce is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hi Kirk, I am a fan of yours and will remain a fan no matter what the future
holds. In regards to Ray's comment. Ray, before you make a statement get the
facts. I should not even comment, but I am. Without getting into great detail,
there are certain species of animals that do mate with the same sex. Besides,
placing animals over human beings within a context for an example such as this
one is by far most insane. Why can't we just love each other ( PERIOD) . God
puts us all here for a certain purpose. We may not all agree, but we must love
one another. My goal is heaven. Kirk, my wish is when I do get there that Jesus
will allow me to sit by the sea of life (front row) and listen to you and Vestal
sing. That is Heaven enough for me. God Bless You !

My husband and I just recently read an article about you. I guess I have but one
thing to say, I'm sorry! The way "God's" people have treated you just makes me
sick. I must say I can not support you should you go that way, however, if
ANYONE were to choose sin, I could not support them either. I believe you are
choosing a different route. Kirk, nobody's perfect, but as long as you are
trying, I really don't see how anyone can say anything but God help him with his
struggle. I just wanted you to know that we are praying for you, and love your
music today just as much as when I began listening when I was just 14 yrs old(I
didn't need to add that last part did I?). Just know that there are real
Christians who are praying for you and we hope this will bring some
encouragement to you. Sadly enough, those who are judging you are probably deep
into sin themselves but say "God can forgive my sin, it wasn't so bad" Don't
worry my friend, God is a just God! just keep letting him know you are really
trying and as long as he believes you don't worry about anyone else.!

As a fan, I love Kirk dearly, I support him in every way possible. I believe he
is a God fearing man that wants more than anything to please God in all he does.
While you are praying for Ray, pray for me too. I understand Ray's frustration.
At times the message isn't clear. Even though everyone has to work out their own
salvation with fear and trembling and it's not our place to judge, I would like
to hear exactly where Kirk is on this issue. I know what I want to believe. I
haven't heard it from Kirk exactly. I know God has and still is doing a work in
Kirk's life and he is using it for His good purposes. It's not about Kirk. It's
about God and His love for mankind. Listen to the message, don't look so much at
the messenger. God used a donkey to speak to one man that wouldn't listen. The
whole time it was for the mans own good. God can use anybody for his glory. Look
for the good in people. God will take care of the rest

CommentsMy CDs came on Monday,
and they haven’t been out of a CD player since. Kirk, this is without a doubt
the best project you’ve ever done. The tracks are magnificent. That choir is
awesome. Gosh, Daryll can really squeeze some sound out of that little choir.
And Kirk… Son! You outdid yourself. I had come to believe that you’d never do
another song that moved me like “Hallelujah, Praise The Lamb,” WRONG! I was
driving around running some errands and “Lamb of Calvary” came on. By the time
it was finished, I had pulled over into a parking lot, had both hands
practically sticking through the roof, and tears flooding down my face! I can
hardly wait until the DVD comes out to SEE all this. The altar call at the
ending is heart-wrenching. I can’t believe there was anyone left in the
audience, they should have all been at the altar!!!

Been a Kirk fan for many years and enjoy seeing the Spirit through him. Ray
doesn't understand and speaks with ignorance. Unless you've dealt with this
phenomenon, you cannot understand the pain and frustration. It's not asked for,
it's not wanted, it's a thorn in the flesh. Ninety percent of gays say they were
abused or neglected as children. Something for parents to ponder. Kirk, life
goes on. It's not so much accepting it as it is learning to live with it.
Conquer the flesh for victory of the spirit. God bless.

My brain spins after I read all the letters,I'm beginning to think being gay is
normal. For all of those who "struggle"with this-aren't you glad your parents
weren't that way?? Would you be here today without a male &female parent?? If
this was a "normal" lifestyle, why don't 2 men or women hold hands or kiss in
public?? Even if the Bible didnot CLEARLY state this is a wrong activity, common
sense would tell you it's not right. Even animals don't conduct themselves in
this way,so why should humans? Are you straight, gay or what? End the discussion
and be what GOD says you are to be. Ray rwt992@pa.net

Kirk, I have followed your story from the beginning. It was especially
interesting to me because my younger brother is gay and our family has been
going through the fire with him. Six years ago, he told us. My parents were
crushed. One of my sisters did exactly what your sister did, turning her back on
him and the rest of our family. We prayed and tried to help him for three years.
Three times a week we met and prayed with him. He loved God and the Church, he
did not want to give into the Gay lifestyle. He was a torn man. We sought
professional help for him, all kinds of ministerial counseling, he went through
the Exodus program therapy twice, still he was gay. Still he needed the
closeness, the intimacy of another man. Finally we saw that he was breaking down
emotionally from all the attempts to change him. Our family got together and
decided to love him just the way he was. We recognized the fact that he had
tried and tried and we had done all that we knew to do to help him. And we had
trusted God to change him, but evidently it wasn't God's plan. We are
pentecostal so we believe that God can do anything. Finally, our brother decided
to leave town and not cause our family any more trauma. Two years ago, after an
emotional good bye, he moved to Houston Texas. My parents still weep to this day
because they miss him so much. No one in our family has seen him for two years.
We talk via phone occasionally and we hear in his voice that he is finally at
peace. He seems more satisfied now that he has finally accepted himself.
Yesterday he phoned to say he had seen your article in GQ magazine. His comment
was " I realized that the only thing I was missing in my life was the rekindling
of my relationship with God" Thank you for being willing to speak with GQ
magazine. You have helped our brother. We are happy that he is coming home for a
visit in a few weeks, simply because he feels at peace and his desire to know
Jesus better is back in his life again. I can't begin to say THANK YOU enough.
